There apparently an either/or situation brewing behind the casting scenes for upcoming KBS drama Third Rate My Way. Right after news came out that Chun Woo Hee was in talks for the drama leading lady role, marking her first prime time leading drama appearance as she’s been active only in movies these past years, now comes the followup news that … Continue reading →
The 2016 year end K-drama awards for the big three networks came and went last weekend, smack dab in the middle of me heading off for my trans-pacific flight, taking said long flight, traveling back home from long flight, and then being massively jetlagged from said flight. All in all I lost 36 hours and also the ability to collect … Continue reading →
It’s not exactly awards season yet in K-ent but the chips are falling as expected even for the one-off awards event such as the just held APAN Star Awards sponsored by the Daejeon Drama Festival. The big winner was Descendants of the Sun, taking home Best Drama, as well as its male lead Song Joong Ki, sweeping up the Daesang, adding … Continue reading →
I’ll leave it to Kim Ji Won to get me excited about fall 2016 fashion shift to stronger fabrics, from metallics to leather and even suede. With summer and the shift dress floaty vibe winding down, the early fall/indian summer mood is right around the corner and I’m loving Sure Magazine‘s take using the red hot actress Kim Ji Won. … Continue reading →
Of the four leads of KBS hit drama Descendants of the Sun, actress Kim Ji Won playing army doctor Yoon Myung Joo was the least well known of the cast. Her popularity has skyrocketed along with the other leads in equal measure hence she’s now been touted for prime time drama leads such as in upcoming KBS sageuk Moonlight Drawn … Continue reading →
After releasing the list of current most popular K-dramas in China, polling site Vlinkage is back with the Top 30 list of most popular Korean male and female stars, respectively. Some are long time regulars on any Korean star popularity list while others are a surprise to me but adds diversity to this list. On the male side, the most … Continue reading →
The timing is about right for more dating scandal from the cast of Descendants of the Sun, with a drama this popular the ingredients are in place for viewers to dream of reel to real or for fans to spot relationships thanks to the heightened scrutiny. With the rumors from three weeks ago that leads Song Joong Ki and Song … Continue reading →
It seems late for a drama filming wrap party for Descendants of the Sun, which ended its shoot back in December of 2015. But if it’s a cast and crew celebratory party then the timing couldn’t be better, with this shindig hitting all the major newswires at a time when DotS is top of the ratings charts and every little … Continue reading →
If there is one thing Kim Eun Sook does well that is nearly universally agreed upon, it’s writing standalone second leads with their own story that isn’t predicated on glomming onto the first leads. There are a few exceptions such as in Heirs when Kim Woo Bin crushed on Park Shin Hye, but even there his conflict with Lee Min … Continue reading →
I usually see the mid-drama press conference from lower rated K-dramas trying to drum up interest in the show as a last chance hurrah. In the case of Descendants of the Sun, the highest rated prime time K-drama in over three years, gathering the popular main cast together for a media chat is all about the fan service and striking … Continue reading →
Park Bo Gum‘s hot property status in K-acting just got major confirmation this week as he turned down one drama supporting role only to land another drama lead role. Nice! After turning down Entertainer (Ttantara) Park Bo Gum is confirmed as the leading man in upcoming romantic sageuk Moonlight Drawn by Clouds. His involvement is enough for me to check … Continue reading →
There hasn’t been much secondary OTP screen time in the first two episodes of Descendants of the Sun, but that hasn’t stopped plenty of viewers from shipping the characters played by Jin Goo as a stoic soldier and Kim Ji Won as a fiery military doctor. Jin Goo is the most visually perfect casting among the four leads, and is … Continue reading →
I put the best picture first from the press conference for KBS drama Descendants of the Sun, because laughing Song Joong Ki makes everything better and it’s rare to see Song Hye Kyo so openly exuberant in place of her usual calm contentment. Sadly for the most part the entire press conference come off like a faculty luncheon introducing new … Continue reading →
