Sooooo, I think I see another mea culpa coming. I confess to seriously disliking Ruby Lin since her Princess Returning Pearl debut over a decade ago. She’s a stiff actress who always gave me the impression she was more concerned about looking perfectly pretty onscreen than acting out whatever the scene required. Even if she was dirty, she was strategically … Continue reading →
Arriving on a cloud of candy colored cuteness, the upcoming TW-drama Miss Rose is gearing up for a Sunday premiere with a full on media push starting with the cast attending a blind date event for the fans. Erh, I’m assuming there is probably a gender imbalance since I doubt there are an equal amount of male fans of dramas, … Continue reading →
Upcoming modern C-drama SOP Queen held a press conference this week to prepare for the drama’s premiere on July 15th. Leads Chen Qiao En, Hans Zhang, and Godfrey Gao were all on hand looking happy and tanned, a sure sign they enjoyed making this drama. Chen Qiao En even got simultaneous cheek pecks from both her leading men, which is … Continue reading →
With Love Forward finally ending (the drama was mind numbingly boring for me), SETTV must be licking its chops waiting for Roy Qiu’s Miss Rose (螺絲小姐要出嫁) to quickly take its place. Premiering on July 22nd, the drama not only shares a male lead with last year’s ratings wunderkind Office Girls, but the title is purposely similar in cadence and concept. If … Continue reading →
TTV has had a stronghold on the Friday night time slot in TW-dramas for quite some time. Ever since The Fierce Wife was a blockbuster, many of its dramas get lots of publicity even when the ratings aren’t that robust, like Ex-Boyfriend which had an ending that stunned the viewers. With In Between wrapping up in a week, coming up is … Continue reading →
Ring Ring Bell was so so beyond stupid, but I still fondly remember it for all the positive things it got right. It was lovely in that slightly dreamy romantic way, leads Janine Chang and Peter Ho looked delicious together and had combustible chemistry, and the OST was stellar. Too bad the story was atrocious, rendering all that great lead … Continue reading →
When I wrote about the upcoming C-drama SOP Queen with Chen Qiao En and Hans Zhang last week, I was surprised it garnered so much interest, with folks wanting to know when it’ll air. I thought towards the end of the year, but lo and behold, this drama just got kicked up the roster and will air next week following the … Continue reading →
Hurray for fervent prayers being answered! The cast of Best Time (the drama title for the adaptation of Tong Hua’s modern novel Secrets Hidden in Time has been changed to 最美的时光) held an open media day recently and tons of goodies were revealed. The best tidbit came from the PD who said 3 different endings for the drama are being filmed (which … Continue reading →
Friday comes the first big Summer C-drama offering on my radar, Tangren Entertainment‘s drama adaptation of the fantasy wuxia RPG Xuan Yuan Sword: Scar of Sky. Starring Hu Ge, Tang Yan, Liu Shi Shi, Jiang Jing Fu, Lin Geng Xin, and Guli Nezha, I went from completely uninterested in this drama to actually curious about it as the previews and … Continue reading →
Okay, so if I told any reader of The Smiling Proud Wanderer novel that the picture above is a scene from Yu Zheng‘s upcoming adaptation The Swordsman, I bet 99% of the people will say “Oh, that’s a scene with Linghu Chong and Ren Ying Ying! They look so perfect together and quite suitable for the character.” Maybe 1% might think the … Continue reading →
The already wrapped modern C-drama SOP Queen finally released trailers this week, but there hasn’t been confirmation of when it’s airing. Starring Hans Zhang, Chen Qiao En, and Godfrey Tsao, the drama definitely went all out on location shoots in London for a month before wrapping up in Shanghai and Taipei. The title is about being a “leftover girl” which … Continue reading →
I’m going to refrain from making any puns on Happy Noodle, because there is nothing that won’t sound raunchy and really the drama title silliness speaks for itself. Filming started in late May on the C-drama Happy Noodle starring Yoon Si Yoon, Li Fei Er, and Zhang Jun Ning. I was wondering who the second male lead was since he’s taller than the already … Continue reading →
Omo, it’s Xiao Yao ge ge back together with feisty little Yue Ru! It’s been eight long years since Hu Ge and Ady An co-starred in Chinese Paladin (though Crystal Liu was the female lead, I liked Ady’s second female lead much better) and fans of that pairing were thrilled last week when it was announced that they were pairing … Continue reading →
