The currently filming C-drama Love Actually with Lee Da Hae, Joe Cheng, and Li Yi Feng released a first batch of officials stills to whet our appetite. It looks like the drama will be hitting on all the sweet spots for its lead actors. Da Hae plays a plucky chef who needs to support her little brother and this becomes … Continue reading →
Ever had the vapors from watching a trailer? Yup, it just happened to me. The just released hot-off-the-mixing-room teaser trailer for one the biggest budgeted period C-dramas of 2012 just hit, and I almost swooned from the intensity mixed with the shock. Huang Xiaoming has officially stopped being smirky and smarmy and decided to forget that he’s one ridiculously gorgeous … Continue reading →
With the surprising but not undeserved ratings success of SETTV‘s daily idol drama Inborn Pair, the network is planning to continue the same streak by following up IP with another daily idol drama. Filming has already commenced for Set Chocolate (愛上巧克力 or Fall in Love with Chocolate) starring Vanness Wu and Joanne Zheng. It’s been years since I’ve seen Joanne … Continue reading →
Look carefully. This might actually be the two leads for the OTP of the drama-adaptation of Yun Zhong Ge. I am honestly fine with this, LOL. Probably because the alternatives could be lot, A LOT, worse, considering the usual suspects Yu Zheng casts in his dramas. I tend to take Yumama’s casting leaks with a tiny bit more believability than … Continue reading →
It’s been a not-so-secret done deal for days now that Feng Shao Feng has been cast in the upcoming period C-drama Lan Ling Wang (è˜é™µçŽ‹ or the King of Lan Ling), which may be his swan song to dramas now that he’s hit it big and transitioning to the big screen. He’s not exactly who comes to mind when I … Continue reading →
My gripes towards the Da Mo Yao novel-to-drama adaptation and casting may seem quite fervent, but in truth its really just small fry. Tangren may make a lackluster DMY drama, but its nothing compared to the insanity Yu Zheng is cooking up for his drama adaptation of Smiling Proud Wanderer (also known as Laughing in the Wind, State of Divinity). … Continue reading →
I remain completely enamored of Fondant Garden. Aside from Park Jung Min, who actually isn’t all that bad either, the other three leads are just wonderful to watch. I like the characters and their relationships, and the story and execution is progressing so smoothly that I don’t feel bored or annoyed. But what’s fueling my rabid love for this drama … Continue reading →
I feel like I’m doing a public service announcement, since I’m not interested in Absolute Boyfriend, the TW-version of the manga Zettai Kareshi, but I figure someone out there might be. The drama, starring Gu Hye Sun and Jiro Wang, has landed the air date on GTV following the end of Skip Beat. So GTV is following up one J-manga … Continue reading →
GRAH! Ladies and gent(s)…..presenting the first ever official still from the Da Mo Yao drama adaptation. Tangren just released the first and only (as of now) picture of Liu Shi Shi as Yu Jin (I’m calling her Yu Jin because this outfit is clearly from her Xiong Nu days, where she still went by that name). I’m dying to see … Continue reading →
Looks like Nicky Wu will never do another Qing dynasty drama again, because I’m getting the sense that he really really loves his hair. I probably would too if I had to shave it off for a good half a year and wear a braid hair piece around. Nicky’s upcoming C-drama held a press conference this week to announce the … Continue reading →
Sorry guys, I’m so pissed off right now I’m actually shaking from anger. I might be putting my Da Mo Yao translations on temporary hiatus, despite the fact that the next few chapters are the most exhilarating things I’ve read in years and have had the pleasure of translating. I can’t think straight right now because Tangren has decided to … Continue reading →
Now that Office Girls has wrapped up stupendously, all cute and no head hurting angst required, it’s time to see if Love Forward can continue the SETTV streak of wins. A drama about two best friends from completely different backgrounds looking for love or money, LF has a cast that is low on the idol but potentially awesome if they … Continue reading →
The final episode of Office Girls aired while I was freaking across the Pacific Ocean on a flight to HK. I landed, ran to the lounge, and immediately watched it. Oh yum yum yum, what a wonderfully satisfying ending. Not terribly substantive, but wholly consistent with the breezy and cute vibe of the show. Plus Roy Qiu and Alice Ke … Continue reading →
