So it’s now past the midway point for xianxia C-drama The Last Immortal which is proving itself quite mortal to growing criticism. The drama premiered with a bang, a fast rise out of the gate and solid first impressions. It looked like Zhao Lu Si‘s first big S-level female lead top billed drama would cement her level but now it’s … Continue reading →
So the dilemma of fully completed C-dramas with a scandal plagued lead continues towards the option of reshooting the scenes of the cancelled lead in order to air. Period drama Love Never Dies was thisclose to airing when actress Yuan Bing Yan got in to tax evasion allegations so the drama was put on ice. She has recently been fully … Continue reading →
So while I was marathoning A Journey to Love last week a new C-drama dropped but this one is a modern drama with a time slip/soul swap concept apparently. It’s called Derailment and stars Liu Hao Cun and Lin Yi with a big promo push I saw in recent weeks. But since it’s premiere the viewership has reportedly been low … Continue reading →
So C-drama A Journey to Love has been airing for 3 weeks and for VIP viewers of iQiyi the streaming platform released the final 6-episodes this Monday with exclusive access. It helps with keeping the interest level high as honestly the last ten episodes have been slowly flagging for me. Overall I found the drama solidly written, a great supporting … Continue reading →
Take this with a grain of salt but I also think it’s more likely than not. A new development in finished period C-drama The Prisoner of Beauty is that the production company is thinking of changing the title along with earlier rumors that it’s prepping for a sudden air drop release. I don’t think it’s a wild possibility as for … Continue reading →
So the two ladies can make this an actual concept haha, lean into girls! Sadly it’s a pretty polarizing flavor, and I don’t mean love it or hate it its more like accept it or hate it. The only people I can imagine loving an actress with an excessive girly (aegyo in Korean or in Chinese it’s called pinched voice) … Continue reading →
So I saw all the hullaballoo around this drama filming at the Shanghai Bund earlier this year, quite a romantic scene atop a double decker bus. The drama is Story of Joy and stars Yang Zi and Xu Kai but really an entire supporting cast of veterans and youngsters playing a whole family dynamic. The drama is centered around the … Continue reading →
So the leads of A Journey to Love are getting plenty of deserved buzz all their own, Liu Yu Ning as Ning Yuan Zhou trending a bit higher than Liu Shi Shi as Ren Ru Yi. But the drama is doing well also because of the strong supporting cast and well developed side characters, when I saw the first promo … Continue reading →
So this beef goes back to earlier this year during the filming of period C-drama Hero Legends starring Cheng Yi. Apparently the production started filming before getting the first approval from the authorities which is a big no no and reportedly the production was shut down and fined after being reported to the authorities. Cheng Yi fans claim it’s Dylan … Continue reading →
So a pre-production xianxa C-drama Love Beyond the Grave (Chinese title 白日提灯 or Carrying a Lantern in Daytime) is accelerating its prep and in in talks with Dilraba Dilmurat as the top billed female lead. Because her revenge life-skipping multiple male leads C-drama is taking so hard to confirm the male leads, if she accepts this one it will start … Continue reading →
Watching C-drama producer and top shelf slimeball Yu Zheng work is like watching the Big Bad in a Bond movie so openly plotting and then wondering why the grand plan didn’t work out. This fall’s period C-drama Scent of Time starring Zhou Ye and Wang Xing Yue didn’t do much for either lead’s buzz or career but was supposed to … Continue reading →
The first trailer is out for Guardians of the Dafeng and I….I just can’t with this. It’s so absurd and not in an immediately endearing way, though I get what it’s going for. This drama preview has the tone of a classic Stephen Chow “mo lei tau” slapstick over-the-top physical ridiculousness written all over it, so you’re either going to … Continue reading →
Xianxia C-drama The Last Immortal premiered this week and is off to a solid start. The initial feedback is just okay, neither big criticism nor big praise, a solid start. Top billed female lead Zhao Lu Si showed her strength in buzz by her character breaking 9 in the daily VLinkage chart on the day of the drama premiere. She … Continue reading →
