I appreciate it when upcoming dramas release tidbits in a constant stream to keep my interest up. The upcoming period drama King of Lan Ling (Lan Ling Wang) with Ariel Lin, Feng Shao Feng, and Daniel Chan won’t air until Summer of 2013 but the production has been ever so generous with goodies. A few long (and spoilery) trailers were … Continue reading →
Lin Geng Xin needs to be in more high profile magazine spreads. He is really (really really) phenomenal in print material. Whereas his acting is raw and rough around the edges still, in print he can unleash his potency in stills that capture his both big boy frame and combination little kid charm with manly simmer. It’s astonishing how he … Continue reading →
Now that Miss Rose is finally over, SETTV is wasting no time ushering in its next Sunday night idol drama 金大花的華麗冒險 (literal title Jin Da Hua’s Extravagant Adventure, but I think its English title will be Replacement Princess or Substitute Princess based on its original drama title). Starring Nikki Hsieh, James Wen, Chris Wu, Chao Chun Ya, Yao Yao (Guo … Continue reading →
I was thrilled with the Cheongdamdong Alice preemption last weekend because I was traveling and couldn’t even watch the episodes, much less recap it. Who would’ve known that episode 8 would be the weak link in an otherwise strong slew of episodes, plus end on a note that felt uncertain and rather precipitous. Thus the two week wait between episodes … Continue reading →
While I was in Taiwan and Japan these past two weeks, I got to watch a ton of inflight movies. I must’ve hit the motherlode because almost every Asian movie I wanted to watch last year was available on demand and I gorged on them only to be left majorly disappointed (Thieves? Highest grossing K-movie of all time? So overrated … Continue reading →
The preliminary 2013 K-drama lists are out from the broadcast networks, with some dramas and castings confirmed and others toggling around from earlier rumors. For example, the period drama Flower and Sword that was rumored to be courting Kim Nam Gil has now switched over to courting Song Seung Heon. Oh boy to that one. The current KBS weekend drama … Continue reading →
D-day is almost here, or shall I more aptly call it FB-day for the flower boys (and girls) about to hit our screen next Monday. 2013 seemed so far away when the news was announced that Park Shin Hye would be starring in a cable drama Flower Boy Next Door alongside Yoon Si Yoon and Kim Ji Hoon. Now it’s … Continue reading →
I’ve held back from posting updates on Kang Ji Hwan‘s recent dispute with his latest management company since its so depressing, with the agency recently asking a court to prohibit Kang Ji Hwan from further activities until his contract with them expires October of 2013. During this time there was talk of SBS dropping him as the leading man on … Continue reading →
After over 800 days spent recovering and rehabbing away from the media spotlight, on December 31, 2012 Ham Yu made his first major public appearance by performing on the Hunan TV New Year’s Even extravaganza. The hosts, other entertainers, and the audience were all notably overcome with emotion to see him return to the spotlight, bearing burn scars on his … Continue reading →
Whatever shall I do when Yoo Seung Ho enlists in the military this year? Is there a place to congregate and miss him openly? Shall I start a club? Much like ICOMYM was started by my unni because of her love of Kim Bum (who was really really young back then), maybe I should start ICFMYM (Inconsolable Crying For Much … Continue reading →
The army taketh, the army giveth back. Hopefully hotter and more mature, of course. I’m already reserving my tears for when Yoo Seung Ho enlists early this year, but I take solace in knowing a bunch of actors in Taiwan and Korea are coming back soon so I can fill the void happily. Military service in Taiwan has gone from … Continue reading →
When it rains, it pours? When one K-ent celeb couple gets outed, another one follows right behind? I don’t know what’s in the water in Korea right now but just a scant day after breaking news of Rain and Kim Tae Hee‘s relationship (which has since been confirmed by her agency after I posted about it), now there are rumors … Continue reading →
Aside from the fashion eye-candy, another good thing came out of the drama awards show in SBS releasing the first teaser of its highly anticipated melodrama That Winter, The Wind Blows. Written by famed screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung and starring Jo In Sung in his return to television after 7 years and paired with Song Hye Kyo, this one has … Continue reading →
