If today was April 1st instead of January 1st, I might take this for an elaborate April Fools Day joke. Alas, it looks like the New Year is off to a new and interesting start with respect to K-ent. Korean news outlets are reporting that Rain and Kim Tae Hee are dating. Yup, dating, as in going out on dates. … Continue reading →
How far away is Flower Boy Next Door? Less than a week away, that’s all! I’ve been in Kyushu all week and totally blind quitting dramas since my hotels all lack in-room WiFi. It was both a blessing and a curse that Cheongdamdong Alice got preempted this past weekend since I couldn’t have watched (or recapped it anyways), but the … Continue reading →
First off, Happy New Year to everyone! Of course that also means it’s drama awards time in Korea, with the three big networks trotting out their ratings successes to foist random meaningless awards on. When I first started watching dramas I used to wonder why the winners of the awards have almost zero correlation with the quality of their acting … Continue reading →
The girls are back, baby! Arguably the most successful and popular girl group in Taiwanese pop history S.H.E. has reunited after a two year hiatus and released their new album The Flower Blooms Again recently. Their vocal prowess makes them more than just pretty faces gyrating onscreen and they have the singing chops to stay on top for as long … Continue reading →
Joe Cheng is currently still in the army with a few months left to go, but he’s been in the spotlight still for various entertainment related reasons. The period Taiwanese movie Ripples of Desire, which he filmed prior to enlisting, just got released in Taiwan though Joe had a low key entrance to the movie premiere on crutches due to … Continue reading →
Super duper rich Chinese network say what?!?! OMG, I figured this wouldn’t happen for another five years or so but it’s actually happening in mere weeks. The C-news is reporting that after years of trying to reunite F4Â (also known as JVKV)Â for China’s largest lunar new year television program, they actually succeeded by throwing so much money at Jerry Yan, Vic … Continue reading →
Gah, I miss seeing Song Joong Ki on my screen every week now that Nice Guy is done. Following a live airing drama that hooks you heart and soul is like having a standing arrangement with a really gorgeous, witty, and thoughtful date. Or in the case of bad dramas, it’s that horrible date you can’t wait to bail on … Continue reading →
After doing two back-to-back TW-dramas in the last two years, Roy Qiu is back in Mainland China filming the first of his reported three dramas on the horizon. This one is a modern drama called Red Wine My Fair Lady with Li Sheng, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he does a period drama next. Recently Bu Bu Jing Xin … Continue reading →
I reckon every year there is at least one shift in each of my opinion categories – one actor I like ends up disappointing me to the degree that I don’t like the person anymore and one actor I dislike ends up surprising me to the degree where I become a converted fan. That’s a good thing in my mind … Continue reading →
This is a repost of the ridiculously long summary and review of Candy Candy the Japanese manga that I first wrote three years ago when I was watching Friends, Our Legend. There was a lovely little interlude in that drama where the leading lady is discussing with one of the two male leads about the types of men a young … Continue reading →
I’m still interested in IRIS 2 because of the cast and the entire production history. Despite not feeling the love or IRIS, it was indeed an impressive production and the cast had great chemistry. It was the twists and turns and made it too convoluted for me, and without much logical foundation. To date the cast of Athena: Goddess of … Continue reading →
Okay, I take back a quarter of my disappointment with Miss Rose after seeing these official stills from this weekend’s final episode 23 of the drama. One thing TW-dramas do very well is give its viewers a definitive happy ending, especially for rom-coms which by definition of its genre does not require anything more than having two characters, whose journey … Continue reading →
We’re rolling towards the end of 2012 and where I am its much too warm for the Holiday season for my tastes. I need some snow and wind chill STAT. With that said, watching the Bean Pole Winter CF featuring Kim Soo Hyun and Suzy is the perfect way to give me just that perfect taste of snow and cuteness. … Continue reading →
