We finally made it, chingus! The finally episode of Miss Rose is coming and oh my lord am I ready for this drama to end. It’s really not that bad, but its precipitous second half decline was so extreme and I loved the first half so much it just hurts that much more. When episode 22 left off was Cheng … Continue reading →
I was super duper excited last year when the filming began for the period movie Saving General Yang but the excitement sorta died down when the movie got its release delayed. It’s another onscreen adaptation of the historical Song dynasty legendary Yang military family where a kick ass General begat seven equally kick ass sons who all went to war for … Continue reading →
Despite starting filming after the drama adaptation of Da Mo Yao (Ballad of the Desert), the other Tong Hua novel Secrets Hidden in Time will hit the small screen next month in early January 2013 as the drama Best Time starring Wallace Chung, Janine Chang, Jia Nai Liang, and Han Xi Ting. I’ve written my novel review earlier this year, … Continue reading →
Finally! Perhaps the higher ups at Fuji TV wanted to save this for a belated Christmas day announcement but I’ve been waiting for months now since Rich Man, Poor Woman wrapped up for confirmation that it would get an SP. With its solid ratings and great peppy vibe, not to mention a happy but open ending, this J-dorama fairly screamed … Continue reading →
When I saw Park Shin Hye‘s photo spread from next month’s InStyle Magazine I didn’t realize that Yoon Si Yoon was also a part of it and they did a couple shoot as well. Such a wonderful Christmas surprise for me (and you!). Last year around now I was totally enveloped in the dysfunctional and healing powers of Me Too, … Continue reading →
I blame it on his drama choices rather than me being blind for not noticing the smexy hotness that is Park Kwang Hyun earlier. I’ve actually only seen him in a bit part in Swallow the Sun as well as the few episodes of Glowing She that I watched (where he was actually paired with So Yi Hyun) but neither … Continue reading →
I can’t complain at all that Yoo Seung Ho was a workaholic this year and did three dramas pretty much back-to-back. He went the spectrum of leading man, character actor, and now secondary male lead. I love his willingness to experiment in whatever capacity that I actually enjoy all the roles he’s played this year. Granted he hasn’t actually wowed … Continue reading →
Now that Miss Rose is confirmed to end the following Sunday, I’ve been expecting some news on its following up drama and SETTV does not disappoint. The drama did have a name change from Replacement Princess to a drama that doesn’t have an English title yet but the literal translation is Jin Da Hua’s Extravagant Adventure (金大花的華麗冒險). I’ll be looking … Continue reading →
Now this is an onscreen coupling that keeps working together but is rather low key about it. Word on the street is that Bolin Chen, coming off a career breakthrough performance in In Time With You co-starring Ariel Lin and has been doing movies since then, is about to return to idol dramas. He’s inked for a drama that will … Continue reading →
There are no absolutes in drama watching. Even if everything looks great, and perhaps even too good to be true, that doesn’t guarantee a base hit much less a home run. Sometimes I think dramas ought to be all about the running game, small incremental gains rather than risking a 3rd and 30 and needing the quarterback to connect with … Continue reading →
This was the first episode of Cheongdamdong Alice since the uneven episode 1 that I didn’t like. I don’t hate it, but some of the characterizations really annoyed me even if the seeds were sprinkled earlier on. I guess what stood out for me in this episode was all the weaknesses in the narrative that were highlighted because finally the … Continue reading →
One good thing about being smack in the middle of Holiday season (and traveling for me) is how busy the days are flying by and so full of joyful happiness that I rarely have any downtime to wait around for Flower Boy Next Door to premiere. We’re almost two weeks away as is, when last I recall it was more … Continue reading →
I luff this boy! Li Yi Feng is one of my few C-actor biases and I make no bones about loving him purely for his extreme adorableness plus charismatic onscreen charm. He won my heart in Sunny Happiness and I’ve never regretted it since. He’s had a series of dramas since SH that I’ve tried to watch but all fail … Continue reading →
