The K-dramas that started before the holidays season are one by one wrapping up and this weekend on jTBC the slice of life seaside drama Welcome to Samdalri ended with the final episode 16 getting a super high 12.399%. It’s definitely on the list of highest rated jTBC dramas of all time now but the weird thing is this drama … Continue reading →
What’s new C-netizens? Apparently it’s the same old, same old, with newly premiered xianxia C-drama Sword and Fairy 4 (Chinese Paladin 4) getting the first major non billing order complaint since it was released. The netizen backlash is against supporting actress Mao Xiao Hui who is being criticized for her lacking visuals onscreen and made worse by the photoshopped promo … Continue reading →
When I first went into My Demon I noticed it’s weak spots and gaps but found the drama as a whole really engaging and worth watching. But as K-dramas are wont to do, as it went along it never got better and the weak parts started to weigh down the show to the point I FF-d the last few episodes … Continue reading →
So while I love Yang Zi this is not one of her C-dramas that I am all that interested in watching. The drama is called Love Endures (Stories of Love and Youth) and filmed last year with Yang Zi and Fan Cheng Cheng as her male lead and with a broad supporting cast as it’s based on an anthology structure … Continue reading →
K-actress Honey Lee had a good week last week with the premiere of her sageuk drama Knight Flower which got solid ratings and good reviews, buoyed by the ratings going up from the first to the second episode. This weekend she’s really off to the races as the third episode on Friday went up yet again and crossed the double … Continue reading →
January isn’t a huge fashion show season but there are couture houses and designers that kick off the year with events. Fendi held a show in Milan last week for its menswear collection and in attendance from K-ent was Lee Min Ho and Greg Hsu was there from T-ent. It’s a fitting crossing of the streams as each is also … Continue reading →
A great new K-drama is now cast and on deck for 2024 and has a cute punny name as well. It’s called Romance Movie (or Melo Movie) and the female lead has the name Kim Moo Bi and the drama is set in the world of K-movies. The leads are Choi Woo Shik and Park Bo Young with him playing … Continue reading →
OMG, this is like baaaaaad even for Yu Zheng level shenanigans. Filming has kicked off for Perfect Match, a 5 couple drama about a mom trying to marrying off her 5 daughters in one Northern Song dynasty family and their respective 5 actors playing their beaus. It’s basically Yu Zheng taking Pride and Prejudice and knocking off the premise set … Continue reading →
K-actress Shin Hye Sun is really going to back-to-back-to-back on K-dramas, not that I am complaining. She did See You in My 19th Life rolling right into Welcome to Samdalri and now has signed on for her next K-drama before Samdalri has ended. The drama is called To My Haeri (literal translation) and is from the screenwriter of Twenty Five, … Continue reading →
So no one can accuse K-pop star Hyuna of moving on too fast after the end of a long relationship. The songstress dated fellow K-pop-er E’Dawn (or just Dawn now) for 6 years before the couple announced their break up last year in December of 2022. Now to kick off the new year in 2024, Hyuna has debuted a new … Continue reading →
I feel like it’s been so long since Song Joong Ki did a romance based drama or movie it almost felt like he wasn’t going back to that era in his career. But now it looks like while he enjoyed the successful genre jumping it looks like he will be doing a melo this year in 2024. He’s in talks … Continue reading →
So this drama synopsis may seem wonky off the bat calling leads Xu Kai and Yu Shu Xin of Sword and Fairy, the Chinese Paladin 6 adaptation, as siblings but it’s not cuz they are actually blood related. The story kicks off when both awaken at the same time in some random town with no memories and set off on … Continue reading →
A new legal drama is coming on SBS in early 2024, the directly titled Good Partner centered around attorneys at a divorce firm. My fave divorce attorney K-drama remains Love and Marriage which feels like multiple lifetimes ago. Good Partner pairs the veteran partner with a pragmatic attitude to divorce law with the younger rookie who remains morally righteous, who … Continue reading →
