This week SBS did a program 2021 Showcase which featured discussion and first look stills of upcoming dramas on its calendar. I was drooling with excitement when it got to the upcoming romance drama Now, We are Breaking Up with Song Hye Kyo and Jang Ki Yong. It’s set in the fashion industry which always elicits a groan from me … Continue reading →
Recently concluded KBS period romance and political drama Youth of May is only screenwriter Lee Kang‘s second full length drama, after Spy and also doing drama specials. I love love love male lead Lee Do Hyun but didn’t like the promos much and also feel rather bland towards female lead Go Min Si so I didn’t end up watching when … Continue reading →
Wowowowow, what a huge casting new for K-ent and the expansion of the next generation of South Korean stars. Plenty have broken into Hollywood such as Lee Byung Hun and Bae Doo Na but not yet the current crop of K-drama big names until now. Park Seo Joon has reportedly been cast in the upcoming big budget MCU movie The … Continue reading →
Okay, there’s a lot to unpack here. Despite the K-netizens going on an anti-Chinese culture in K-dramas attack earlier this year which played one part in the cancellation of Joseon Exorcist and concerns over Chinese PPL in K-dramas so some were removed, one of the big name Chinese novel adaptation into a K-drama appeared to also be in jeopardy of … Continue reading →
There are six more episodes left for MBN sageuk drama Bossam: Stealing Fate and it continues to excel at everything it does, on track to be the best period drama for the first half of 2021 and perhaps the entire year. A big achievement was hit in episode 13 this Saturday at the highest AGB nationwide rating hit 8.648% which … Continue reading →
The child actors of hit MBC sageuk The Moon Embraces the Sun were the shining stars of the cast, getting a long 6-episode run to set the stage and since then each and every one has gone on to success. Yeo Jin Gu played the crown prince and Im Shi Wan as the older brother of the female lead and … Continue reading →
SBS hasn’t been quick on the draw in defusing the collective angry reaction from drama viewer’s to the Penthouse season 3 twist that Park Eun Seok the actor would be back on the show but not as Logan Lee instead as his bomb ass rich gangster brother Alex Lee. Usually drama twists elicit differing opinions but I yet to come … Continue reading →
There are SO MANY new and young acting stars in C-ent it’s actually made me drop off most of my C-drama watching because there are no true stars (yet) in that generation which captivate me like the group which launched the mid-aughts. This year Marie Claire China held a Women in Power evening night out that clearly had the dress … Continue reading →
It’s clear idol-actress Hyeri is quite beloved and popular within K-ent, she is always friendly and sincere whenever I see her doing variety and interviews and so many other stars speak highly of her. So it’s no surprise that she got a beverage truck sent to her on the set of KBS sageuk Thinking of the Moon When the Flowers … Continue reading →
I still get annoyed when drama productions pick a Korean title and then choose an English one that isn’t either a direct translation or at least an approximation in meaning. Upcoming MBC action thriller Black Sun is now called The Veil which could point to whatever shadowy organization that male lead Namgoong Min is trying to topple. He’s been bulking … Continue reading →
I still really enjoy My Roommate is a Gumiho but the crackiness of the first four episodes has died down a bit this week. I found episodes 5 and 6 to be sweet cute watches but it also felt like the plot didn’t move much. While Dam and Woo Yeo continue to live together and get to know one another, … Continue reading →
I still don’t know why viewers enjoy watching SBS drama Penthouse which has been the biggest hit on South Korean television in years and is now on season 3. It just feels like a star-studded makjang-ier version of hit cable drama Sky Castle, rich people in-fighting with a sprinkling of death and tsunamis of betrayal. With that said, my perplexation … Continue reading →
I’m getting more and more excited for the upcoming tvN legal drama Demon Judge (The Devil Judge) since it just looks so cool and stylized. It’s a different take than the usual law drama and seems to posit the legal system as a cross between entertainment and theater. Ji Sung is the titular demon judge with Kim Min Jung as … Continue reading →
