I don’t know how I feel about the character arrangements in SBS new drama Entertainer, but I do know that I unabashedly love the just released first teaser. Only two of the four leads make their appearance as music agency president Ji Sung vogues and then shimmy and shakes in a convenience store after encountering dance bug bitten Hyeri. Despite … Continue reading →
Season 2 of We Are In Love, the Chinese version of We Got Married, if off to a fantastic start no less thanks to the most excellent casting of TW-actor Bolin Chen and K-actress Song Ji Hyo. The two are the well-deserved breakout stars of this season among the three couples, validating the early buzz around their casting and showing audiences … Continue reading →
This was one perfunctory episode of Descendants of the Sun and it came so unexpectedly, an hour that felt more like a crawl at really no fault of any particular element. The story line was pushed forward in ways that seemed to check off boxes – contain viral outbreak, check; little girl in peril, check; bad guy makes his move, … Continue reading →
It’s a bit of a late start to filming for upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama Entertainer, but as a modern piece it likely needs less prep work. Starring Ji Sung, Hyeri of Girl’s Day, CNBLUE‘s Kang Min Hyuk, and Chae Jung Ahn, the music industry drama genre isn’t new to SBS as the network attempted it in the summer of ’14 … Continue reading →
It must be spring because love is in the air. MBC‘s Mon-Tues long drama Glamorous Temptation just went off the air last week and this week is back in the news for yet another story about a on set drama spawned drama. Temptation male lead Joo Sang Wook is confirmed to be dating second female lead Cha Ye Ryun, which … Continue reading →
For those waiting for Park Shin Hye‘s return to drama land, the wait is over as the pretty and talented young actress is confirmed for upcoming SBS Mon-Tues drama Doctors (formerly known as Female Gangster Hye Jung). The good casting news comes in doubles today as rumored male lead Kim Rae Won has also confirmed, making this an early head … Continue reading →
I don’t even know where to start trying to write a news post like this. This is news news and not entertainment fluff news, but it’s so shocking and devastating that it’s taken over every single media outlet in Taiwan and for good reason. On Monday morning March 28, 2016, a senseless act of violence shook up the island and … Continue reading →
Leave it to eagle eyed Chinese drama fans to spot a potential spoiler in a tiny frame in what felt like a cute but throwaway scene in Descendants of the Sun. The popularity of this drama in China, and in Korea as well as many other Asian countries, means any little thing makes the news, but a potential hint as … Continue reading →
Not sure who is the brain trust behind this percolating idea but it’s so worth talking about. There is a potential Cheese in the Trap movie in the works, and on top of that an offer has gone out to Park Hae Jin to reprise his role as male lead Yoo Jung. I’m hoping the idea of male lead for … Continue reading →
This is most excellent drama casting news for me, not sure if anyone else finds this as promising as I do but it’s certainly big name catches for MBC. The summer 2016 K-drama season is shaping up to be intense competition indeed as Lee Jong Seok and Han Hyo Joo have both just confirmed the thriller romance W. The drama … Continue reading →
The ratings are for the new batch of Mon-Tues K-dramas and the playing field looks a lot different than the bloodbath going on in the Wed-Thurs slot. Mon-Tues doesn’t have a runaway winner (yet), with the race tight out of the gate and with plenty of wiggle room to change spots. SBS gets the slight win as Daebak (The Royal Gambler … Continue reading →
Every time something gets popular in China I feel like the authorities have knee jerk reactions to be sticks in the mud. After a spate of time-traveling dramas a few years ago the broadcast hammer came down on that genre, as if sane audiences would suddenly believe that could be possible and then get mired in fantasy delusions. The runaway success of … Continue reading →
If I were a betting man I would abstain from picking the winner of the upcoming Mon-Tues K-drama ratings battle. There are too many variables in the air and none of three contenders have a sure fire hook going for it. I don’t even know which one I would click play first but I’m certainly going to check all three … Continue reading →
