Song Joong Ki is grinning like a cat got cream in the cover for the latest OST release from Descendants of the Sun and I can’t say I blame him. In addition to the phenomenal domestic ratings and record breaking Chinese viewership for the KBS drama, the songs from the official soundtrack have been released one after another as major … Continue reading →
I love Gong Hyo Jin as an actress, and admire her as a fashion icon and occasional provocateur. I was going through old photos of her and came across her pictorial modeling the clothes she personally designed for LAP (LA Project), an indie brand with shops and an online store. This was back in 2012 around the Best Love days, … Continue reading →
This was the episode that tipped my affection for Descendants of the Sun from strong like to a whole new level above. I LOVE THIS DRAMA, that is all. It probably would have gotten there faster if I connected more with Song Hye Kyo’s earlier episodes performance as Mo Yeon but both her acting and the character development have grown stronger now … Continue reading →
Suzy‘s two year reign as Korea’s favorite little sister star may have serious competition this year finally. 2016 dawns with the arrival of Girl’s Day‘s Hyeri, riding the success wave that is Answer Me 1988Â along with her aegyo from last year, not to mention FNC Entertainment pushing AOA‘s Seolhyun like she’s a tasty vitamin treat and all of Korea needs … Continue reading →
It appears a big chunk of the Chinese-speaking entertainment industry crowd is flying out to Bali this weekend for the sure to be star-studded wedding of top stars Nicky Wu and Liu Shi Shi. So many stars have been lighting up their weibo and FB feeds showing off the wedding invitation, the wedding treats, and chattering about what to wear … Continue reading →
At this point SBS needs to look forward to its next Wed-Thurs drama and just ignore the ratings for the next 4 weeks. I’m definitely checking out the scheduled music industry drama Entertainer for sure now that male lead Ji Sung has confirmed his casting. Even if younger male lead hopeful Park Bo Gum turned his role down to headline … Continue reading →
This was an incredible episode of Descendants of the Sun and easily the best one so far in both emotion and action. The tears came freely and from genuine moments of tragedy that was nicely built up, moments that flowed from both the greater natural disaster and the small human elements. The romance for both OTPs took a welcomed back … Continue reading →
Oh ouch, this one’s gotta hurt, and not sure if the hurt is lessened by having another fellow fallen comrade. The ratings are out for this Wednesday’s prime time dramas and all eyes are on newcomer Goodbye Mr. Black with Moon Chae Won and Lee Jin Wook to see if it can make a dent in runaway rating’s leader Descendants … Continue reading →
SBS is wrapping up long running Mon-Tues drama Six Flying Dragons next week and the following week will see the premiere of Daebak, which has been officially English titled The Royal Gambler rather than the literal Jackpot. I kinda like The Royal Gambler, has a nice ring to it and direct explanation of the main character and subject matter. Jang … Continue reading →
Looking ahead to the start of summer 2016, the coveted prime time Wed-Thurs lineup got finalized this week in terms of dramas scheduled. KBS had famed screenwriter Lee Kyung Hee penned Arbitrarily Fond with Kim Woo Bin and Suzy locked into that slot for months now to accommodate the pre-produced project that is intended for simultaneous live-airing in China. MBC announced last … Continue reading →
This is an interesting casting possibility on top of an already interesting casting discussion surrounding upcoming SBS Mon-Tues drama Doctors (formerly Female Gangster Hye Jung). The original title had more flavor but I can see the new title being selected for broader inclusion if the drama is about a group of doctors rather than focused solely on the main character. … Continue reading →
It’s only a matter of time before the C-media started comparing Kim Soo Hyun and Song Joong Ki, thanks to the success of Descendants of the Sun in Korea and China the drama is securely regarded as the next You From Another Star. The degree of stickiness of DotS has yet to be seen since YFAS was huge for more … Continue reading →
I’m definitely checking out upcoming MBC Mon-Tues drama Monster (Tyrant), it’s got Kang Ji Hwan and a guest starring turn by TW-actor Bolin Chen in his first K-drama, what’s not to love? The drama is gearing up for a month end premiere alongside direct competition in SBS‘s sageuk Jackpot and KBS going for quirky legal drama Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul … Continue reading →
