I’m sorry to say – this is one reunion that I wish wasn’t documented with selfies and then shared with the world. I like both Jang Geun Seok and Jung Yong Hwa, especially their work together in cult favorite K-drama You’re Beautiful, but the passage of time has transformed the young men into current versions that are a bit disparate … Continue reading →
Oooooh, I super love this onscreen pairing so gimme, gimme, gimme! Talented grown up child actors Nam Ji Hyun and Yeon Joon Seok have just been cast in an SBS one episode drama Mysterious New Student. She’s been one of my faves ever since stealing every teen role around in Will It Snow For Christmas, Queen Seondeok, Giant, East of … Continue reading →
Marry Me or Not continues to be marvelous, even at the pace of turning serious and even a little bit makjang. That’s not a bad thing, makjang gets associated with negative connotations but the original intent is merely to drop some dramatic associations to heighten the tension, but has since been hijacked to ever greater heights of absurd in K-dramas. … Continue reading →
It feels a bit like a ball, all that attention on the casting of upcoming tvN drama Cheese in the Trap, and then seemingly less attention now that it’s filming and releasing promos and previews. It’s not a bad thing necessarily, dial down the hype a bit so the end product doesn’t have unrealistic and towering expectations to meet. The … Continue reading →
The top echelons of popularity when it comes to Hallyu stars feels like one of those elite clubs – hard to get in but once in it’s a breezy ride to stay on top. How else to explain the enduring popularity of the current set of It folks, the likes of which is starting to be a cut and paste … Continue reading →
The promo team for upcoming is basically the gift that keeps on giving, dropping one excellent drama still after another. The full set of official drama posters are out, the one of leads Sung Joon and Han Ye Seul together was actually a b-cut as the official one looks very similar except Han Ye Seul’s express is less cute and … Continue reading →
I want to collect Ji Soo goodies up like baseball cards and he’s the rookie I know will be priceless someday down the road. He’s still up and coming, and despite how often I write about him he’s not nearly a super breakout star in Korea yet. I do wonder if he was cast in a drama as pop culturally … Continue reading →
I’m not holding my breath that this casting triumvirate will work out, but the one outlier piques my interest the most because the other two are so been there done that. Filming has started on period C-drama The Princess Weiyoung (锦绣未央 Jin Xiu Wei Young) based on the C-novel The Bastard Daughter is Poisonous (庶女有毒). The novel is not for … Continue reading →
I much appreciate an unexpected collaboration when it’s sweet and nostalgic. SNSD‘s Yoona made a surprise guest starring appearance in the just released MV for popular C-actor Li Yi Feng‘s latest single “Please Contact Me”. The song is part of the OST for his recently released romantic C-movie Fall in Love with a Star costarring Yang Mi. I’m not terribly … Continue reading →
Holy heck why so cute Madame Antoine? The production of upcoming jTBC romance drama Madame Antoine just released another poster and this one wins like a home run. Featuring the two leads Han Ye Seul and Sung Joon, OTP posters come and go but this one hits the spot with a combination of great visuals and adorable charm. I’m already … Continue reading →
I don’t recall ever seeing Rain looking as scrumptious as he’s been looking recently. His outfits at his Seoul concert last week was questionable, other than went he went shirtless to get drenched, but from the hair to the bod he’s in tip top shape. I actually became a Rain fan through his acting in the early days but have … Continue reading →
The recently released pictorial of Puff Guo in New York City feels like a reward for the time she’s been not as active promoting this year. It’s raw and real, with plenty of modern fashionable styling to keep the visuals entertaining and interesting. Elle Taiwan sent Puff to Manhattan last month for a photo shoot that doesn’t just capture the … Continue reading →
It’s good news for SBS heading into 2015 year end, the network this week just won the ratings time slot for both its Mon-Tues and Wed-Thurs prime time dramas. It’s not by much, but having a dual win is so rare these days as ratings remain mostly depressed across the industry. Mon-Tues has been a lock with sageuk Six Flying … Continue reading →
