This latest career success couldn’t have happened to a nicer actor, not to mention the accolades are all well-deserved. With Kill Me Heal Me wrapping up next week with the final two episodes, it’s nice to understand the extent of the drama’s popularity in major K-drama markets as well as who is getting all the buzz. That would be Ji … Continue reading →
I’m breathing a sigh of relief that the first preview for upcoming MBC drama Angry Mom hits all the right notes for me. There’s the spitfire titular angry mom played by Kim Hee Sun, the hapless teacher that is Ji Hyun Woo going back to his beta-male side, and the petulant teenage daughter played by Kim Yoo Jung. Those three … Continue reading →
At this point it’s not a question of who else is going to be doing a crossover project with China, but a matter of when with respect to all the popular and rising Korean actors and actresses. I find it funny that Jang Nara already did this over a decade ago when she was making Chinese dramas left and right. Up … Continue reading →
It dovetails nicely to do a post on Han Groo‘s recent pictorial for Nylon magazine at the same time news comes out of her potential next acting project. I like her a lot but don’t quite love her (yet), she’s arguably one of the better actresses of her age group but still needs a breakout role. I found Marriage Not … Continue reading →
Looks like KBS is nowhere near done with its week-long drama casting and scheduling news dump. So much activity going on at that network versus the other two makes sense, taking into account KBS adding an extra night of drama programming on Fridays not to mention MBC having fewer dramas to air what with scheduling two long sageuks back-to-back on … Continue reading →
With winter wrapping up, spring-like warm weather is a-coming and so are two new prime time K-dramas. To save me the hassle of doing separate posts on them, MBC‘s upcoming 50-episode long sageuk Splendid Politics (Hwajung) held its first cast script reading on the same week as SBS‘s trendy The Girl Who Sees Smells (formerly known as Sensory Couple but … Continue reading →
I don’t know what magic casting wand the production waved but the upcoming C-version of We Got Married just got interesting thanks to totally random pairings. Just as the original MBC Korean WGM is undergoing a structure change and a cast refresh, the C-version is heading into production right on schedule for an April premiere. The show will be called … Continue reading →
Whenever I see a picture of smiling Jang Nara it also brings a smile to my face. She may not be an actress I love but she’s always watchable in all her performances. Call it a combination of effortless charm with baby-faced looks in a tasty match. She did two back-to-back MBC dramas last year with Fated to Love You … Continue reading →
I see what SBS is doing here, releasing the casting news this early just to distract everyone from the disaster that is Hyde, Jekyll, Me. Even worse is doing so via Hyun Bin‘s equally famous and beloved Secret Garden costar Ha Ji Won, almost like rubbing salt on my already open wound. The K-version of the hit Taiwan drama In Time … Continue reading →
If there is a silver lining to Hyde, Jekyll, Me, the drama writing is doing a damn good job of making me unable to find it, find the hope that it will somehow get its act together. The likelihood of something clicking so late in the game is slim, I know that, but for the love of Hyun Bin I’ve … Continue reading →
I’m sooooo happy there is finally an end date in sight for Friday night SETTV idol drama Aim High. The title is just ripe for skewering considering it did the opposite of that, calling it Aim So Low or Aim High and Fall Flat on Your Face would be more apt. Even my beloved Lego Lee couldn’t make me stay … Continue reading →
These two give me back a little bit of faith in the celebrity marriage, and really in the idea of marriage as support and compromise. Ji Sung has been busy lately, and I mean real busy what with playing 7 different characters in the currently airing Kill Me Heal Me. A live-filmed K-drama is basically 3 months of living on the … Continue reading →
I’m not particularly sad about this news but there are sure to be tons of sad fans out there now that it’s confirmed Jaejoong will be enlisting for his mandatory military service. With Jaejoong heading off, it’s only a matter of time before his close-in-age JYJ mates Yoochun and Junsu also hie off to become army rangers for two years. … Continue reading →
