I was probably on a happy deserted island all by myself when the news broke of the casting of Yoona as Joo Won‘s leading lady in the K-remake of Nodame Cantabile. I honestly thought neither of them were the perfect fit so might as well go with the flow since I like her well enough after Prime Minister and I and … Continue reading →
There’s finally a reason for me to sit up and take note of the upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama My Spring Days (The Spring Days of My Life) which will take over for Fated to Love You come September. It’s sad the drama can’t parlay its punny title into an airdate during the same name season, but the subject matter isn’t … Continue reading →
There was a whole year when there was a Roy Qiu generated post at least once a week here. He had two successive SETTV hit dramas in Office Girls and Miss Rose, and I recapped the former midway until almost the end and recapped the latter from the beginning and dropped it when it dragged. He was the best thing … Continue reading →
This post has been long overdue since the gorgeous pictures here were released last month in June prior to the premiere of the currently airing KBS sageuk Joseon Gunman. Leads Lee Jun Ki and Nam Sang Mi shot a moody throwback pictorial for Bazaar Korea that takes them out of drama character and plops them into an early twentieth century … Continue reading →
While I am satisfied seeing Lego Lee in stills, nothing beats seeing him in action moving onscreen. With the purported movie version of In a Good Way still in the works, Lego hasn’t accepted any new acting projects likely to keep the opening in his schedule. Luckily he’s also a singer and has plenty of friends in the singing world … Continue reading →
Now that the torrents of frustration and/or vitriol towards Dr. Stranger has been unleashed, I’m rather curious to hear from folks who actually enjoyed the drama. I honestly have no jeers for anyone who liked it, the enjoyment of media entertainment is subjective and everyone’s got a guilty pleasure or ten in a hidden away in a video folder titled … Continue reading →
This is the chapter that cannot be missed if you’ve been reading Lost You Forever. It’s the most incredible one since the action-packed chapter where Xiao Yao was assassinated and her three men rushed one after another to contribute to saving her in their own way. This chapter 32 of LYF has been a long time coming as Xiao Yao … Continue reading →
SETTV doesn’t always have narratively good dramas but it more often than not manages to cobble together great OTP leads to make mediocre dramas a hit and turn crap dramas into a decent outing. It’s landed on the formula of using star appeal and onscreen chemistry to sustain the viewer interest, and no other drama in its recent crop personifies … Continue reading →
There will likely be more photo opportunities involving Ha Ji Won and Gong Yoo for the rest of 2014 as the two of them were officially appointed the goodwill tax ambassadors for the South Korean National Tax Service. For nearly two decades in the industry these two faves of mine have never worked together until now so I won’t look a … Continue reading →
Finally! After weeks of teasing with drama stills of all the parental and elder generational cast members in character for the upcoming fantasy sageuk Records of a Night Watchman, MBC loosened the teaser spigot today and dropped the first look at male leads Jung Il Woo and Yunho in character. To say I’m underwhelmed is an understatement. Why oh why … Continue reading →
Eeeps, I don’t know how I feel about this. On one hand, Lee Hong Ki‘s last leading lady in Bride of the Century was a relative newbie in Yang Jin Sung which worked out wonderfully all around. On the other hand, I found newbie actress Kwon Min Ah pretty awful in her last drama so my first reaction is not optimism lightning … Continue reading →
Remember how I said that in all the early teasers from It’s Okay, It’s Love showed the two leads Gong Hyo Jin and Jo In Sung giving off a more friends than lovers vibe? I added to it when the first poster was released showing the two of them buff in the bathtub, joking that they are could be llovers … Continue reading →
It’s the return of Lee Jun Ki as Iljimae version 2! Hahaha, just kidding, but doesn’t he look like it? A tiny bit of frustration and annoyance descended on Joseon Gunman in episode 6 but it’s understandable and doesn’t really cause any lasting damage to Yoon Kang’s revenge plan that wasn’t already built into his scheme. Or at least I sure hope he was … Continue reading →
