Oh this is big news, but probably no ripples for broader C-ent. This week Yang Mi dropped a big surprise in that she left Jay Walk Studios (Jiaxing), the company she established in 2013 with two other individuals. She established Jay Walk after leaving Tangren Entertainment and also establishing her own Yang Mi workshop which is very common with top … Continue reading →
Last month in April 2023 two top C-drama actresses happened to start new drama filming at the same time so it’s getting busy in Hendian again. Dilraba Dilmurat came back from a hiatus last year and is all cylinders firing with CFs and attending events and back to drama filming. She’s in a kidnapping detective procedural titled Sword Rose about … Continue reading →
Normally when big melons get rolling it still takes time before the official news ends the speculation but this time it’s pretty fast. This weekend director Tsui Hark confirmed that he’s next movie will be the first of his planned three movie adaptation of Legend of the Condor Heroes with the first being called Legend of the Condor Heroes: The … Continue reading →
Man, I hope Allen Ren (Ren Jia Lun) doesn’t follow up a turd with another turd. I surprisingly enjoyed The Blue Whisper hence got all excited for Thousand Years for You which felt like Thousand Years of Dull when it arrived. He’s got The Demon Hunter’s Romance (Wu You Du) with Song Zhu Er just filmed and now he’s filming … Continue reading →
So it feels like the pendulum has swung back to normalcy in C and K netizen chatter, for awhile the two sides were always against each other and their respective cultures and productions seemingly for the sake of it due to real life geo-political tensions. Now I see more actual substantive commentary and for the upcoming C-drama remake of My … Continue reading →
So…….I find myself quite looking forward to the next Youku xianxia C-drama Back From the Back after the latest preview came out this week. The drama is confirmed for a May 10th premiere after the (rocks fall down?) ending of Till the End of the Moon next Tuesday. The latest preview is just adorable, leaning heavily on the stoic dragon … Continue reading →
I don’t know if the two diametrically opposite review camps for xianxia C-drama Till the End of the Moon are just the fandom and the anti-fans being the most vocal or there are actually casual viewers who think either way. Because this drama is my definition of mid (borrowing youth lingo here) – nowhere near as bad as most xianxia … Continue reading →
This rumor has been making the rounds in C-ent and has been gaining steam so it’s time to talk about it. HK-director Tsui Hark is reportedly making a new C-movie adaptation of Louis Cha‘s epic novel Legend of the Condor Heroes in a three film series. The first movie is called Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Great Hero and … Continue reading →
I remember watching C-actor Luo Yun Xi when he played teen Wallace Chung in My Sunshine over a decade ago and since I didn’t follow his career but knew he upgraded to male lead status as an adult actor it’s a genuine revelation to see him in currently airing xianxia drama Till the End of the Moon. He reminds me … Continue reading →
Alrighty, this is what I call a case of speaking too fast and being not well learned enough to make the wrong analogy lol. C-actress Bai Lu issued a formally apology over the weekend when her interview 4 years ago from 2019 was unearthed when she was asked about the romance in her then airing C-drama The Legends (Zhao Yao) … Continue reading →
Youku is following up xianxia C-drama Till the End of the Moon with Luo Yun Xi and Bai Lu with a kinda younger version of the same tortured fated love xianxia drama Back From the Brink with Hou Ming Hao and Zhou Ye I checked out the promos to see if it’s up my alley. Zhou Ye got her big … Continue reading →
Mainland China’s crackdown on the two largest Macua junket operators has wrapped today with second-largest Tak Chun Group ex-CEO Levo Chan getting 14 years in prison. Earlier this year big boss Alvin Chau of Suncity Group got 18 years in the slammer. Both CEOs and their companies were investigated and arrested for running illegal gambling bets (multipliers) under the table … Continue reading →
I love writing about potential airing dates for The Longest Promise and then getting disappointed because the title just writes itself lol. The xianxia teacher-student romance drama with Xiao Zhan and Ren Min is back in the news due to a recent C-ent serious rumor that it’s scheduling for a May 2023 airing. This drama has been both highly anticipated … Continue reading →
