You know, this actually doesn’t look half-bad. The preview is out for Korean-Chinese collaboration web drama High End Crush, starring Jung Il Woo, Jin Se Yeon, and Bora of Sistar, which will premiere exclusively on Chinese web portal Sina starting in late October. The rom-com is the definition of short and sweet, airing for 20-episodes at just 15 minutes a … Continue reading →
Well, now we know who bought up the used costumes from The Lord of the Rings trilogy and recycled it with more bling. Filming is currently underway for the C-drama adaptation of popular writer Guo Jingming‘s novel Ice Fantasy. Starring Feng Shao Feng, Victoria Song, Ma Tian Yu, Hu Bing, and Zhang Meng, the novel tells of the conflict between … Continue reading →
Just having Vivian and Bryant together is enough for me to check out this new TW-drama, but the opening theme song and MV sequence is the unexpected icing on the cake. TVBS is jumping on the cooking theme bandwagon with Taste of Love (Chinese title 唯一繼承者 The Only Heir), but unlike the kindergarten level Love Cuisine on SETTV that is wasting … Continue reading →
Please be good, Marry Me, or Not! I’ve been waiting for this drama for what feels like forever, but even more critical is how much is on the line for me. There hasn’t been a home rum TW-drama all year that’s owned my heart, even if When I See You Again and Love Cuisine are moderately watchable solely for male … Continue reading →
I was already looking forward to modern day coming-of-age C-drama Precious Youth based on the leads and synopsis, but seeing the recently released teaser confirmed that my optimism was well placed. Starring Liu Shi Shi and Zheng Kai, the drama chronicles the high school to adulthood lovers-to-friends-to-lovers saga of the two leads set against the backdrop of rapidly modernizing China from … Continue reading →
I wonder what Ji Chang Wook fans think about this upcoming casting news? From a career progression perspective, I think it’s a smart move as long as he’s vetted the production and script as going into China would be a logical next step for him. Ji Chang Wook is apparently confirmed for upcoming Korean-Chinese joint produced drama My Male God. … Continue reading →
If upcoming TW-drama Marry Me, or Not was a blind date, I’d probably marry it sight unseen based on the strength of the two leads unknown. Reuniting hit drama Office Girl’s Roy Qiu and Alice Ke, this time the two trade sweet awshucks type banter for more chic and high powered work place romance. There is always the potential for … Continue reading →
This year’s 50th annual Golden Bell Awards went down last weekend glittering with more top stars than usual, and the winner were nicely spread across the board with none of the usual grumbling afterwards. The biggest drama winners were for the Ruby Lin produced and starred drama The Way We Were (16 Summers) – while Ruby lost out on Best … Continue reading →
It’s been a decade since Tangren produced fantasy wuxia C-drama Chinese Paladin and launched the careers of Hu Ge, Crystal Liu, and Ady An, and more than five years since the just as popular second helping with Chinese Paladin 3 which is credited for putting Wallace Huo, Tang Yan, and Yang Mi on the map. The CP series were all based … Continue reading →
Now this is how to do nostalgia right, and with triple the eye candy to boot! Crystal Liu posted a reunion picture on her SNS this weekend that has all wuxia fans buzzing – she attended a dinner with the production of the 2003 C-drama adaptation of Demi-gods and Semi-devils and afterwards playfully did a martial arts pose with her … Continue reading →
It’s starting to feel like there are too many upcoming C-dramas to keep track of, which is not a big deal since I can pick and choose what catches my fancy and ignore the rest. C-writer Gu Man has been popular for quite some time but thanks to the recent drama adaptations of her two most popular novels Silent Separation … Continue reading →
s I’m taking this rumored upcoming Chinese-Korean collaboration drama with a grain of salt, but more on the casting than on the drama actually happening. Word on the street is that Chinese A-list actor Huang Xiaoming, who is getting ready for his upcoming big-budget wedding to fellow C-actress Angelababy (Yang Ying), is pretty a spin-off drama to his recent period … Continue reading →
It’s no exaggeration to say that C-actress Tang Yan is basically over-exposed at this point. And it’s not just the international drama audiences thinking that, C-netizens have also gotten fed up with her being in every other drama or movie, and always playing the same “dense, pale, sweet” (傻白甜) character. The slang “dense, pale, sweet” for a drama female lead … Continue reading →
