The heydays of watching tons of dramas all the time are long gone for me, but in its place is a contentment borne from finding just a handful a year that bring me delight. This week started with the end of Cruel City (Heartless City) and will end with the conclusion of Monstar. I’m sad two of my fave dramas … Continue reading →
I knew Two Weeks was premiering next Wednesday but totally forgot that its predecessor drama Queen of the Classroom was ending this week as well, which ups the count to four K-dramas ending in one week. I hope the death count is lower for the Wed-Thurs dramas then it was for the Mon-Tues ones. If I went by the excitement … Continue reading →
The upcoming KBS drama Secret has been living up to its name throughout the entire development process. Its existence was barely acknowledged until two weeks ago when it started casting its net publicly for leads, whereas most K-dramas generate chatter on the down low for months prior to even getting into formal production. With only less than 6 weeks left … Continue reading →
Get read to start weeping, people. Even before the tears have fully dried from losing my baby boy Yoo Seung Ho to the claws of the military earlier this year, even the thought that Song Joong Ki was considering enlisting at the year of the year gave me the shakes. The boy has been on fire with a string of … Continue reading →
I still love Monstar and wanted to share some oldies but goodies from my treasure trove now that we’re in the final week of its run. The first teaser for Monstar was a stylish what-if fantasy sequence when the kids are sitting in the classroom and Se Yi strums her guitar and starts to sing, when the others hear her music it moves … Continue reading →
Yup, there is no mincing words here, gotta call it like I see it. The Master’s Sun held a press conference yesterday and released a long 12-minute preview for the drama. I was all ready to write about the sartorial misses of the cast, but then I watched the long preview and every single thought flew out the window other … Continue reading →
It’s a triplicate of K-drama finales this week what with Cruel City (Heartless City), Shark (Don’t Look Back), and I Hear Your Voice all ending. IHYV fans will have to wait two more days to see how their beloved drama wraps up after getting a 2-episode extension, but CC and Shark aired their 20th and last episode today and the … Continue reading →
If there was a way for Goddess of Fire to get even stupider in plot, this drama is succeeding masterfully at it. Episode 10 was all about making a special teacup that would keep tea warm at the behest of the Ming dynasty envoy. Apparently giving him a hot water bottle is not an option. After taking a plunge into … Continue reading →
The premieres in Seoul this Summer keep getting bigger and bigger and this is one of the most star-studded to date what with the melding of Hollywood and a Korean directorial super star. Seoul was the location chosen for the world movie premiere of the upcoming Snowpiercer since its directed by South Korean wunderkind Bong Joon Ho, who has helmed … Continue reading →
I am so so excited about The Master’s Sun. Whatever awaits me, at least the promotion for this drama has been exciting and spot-on from the Hong sisters. That’s worth something, right? The official drama website opened last week and has been chock full of goodies, some of which have been released already but I just had to share a … Continue reading →
I’m so appalled at the banality of Goddess of Fire it’s almost insulting to have to write about it. This drama understands nothing about risk and reward, conflict and growth. All that binds it together is stupid people doing stupid things crossed with evil people doing evil things. That’s it. Other than Tae Do, I have yet to find a … Continue reading →
The first of this Season’s ghostly-themed drama offerings arrives in the form of Who Are You being the first out of the gate. Will it give this drama an advantage? Probably not, there is no saturation point with this topic yet and the other drama The Master’s Sun airs on SBS as a prime time offering so it’s appealing to different … Continue reading →
Oh noes, this is terrible news. With Cruel City (Heartless City) wrapping up this coming week, filming has just finished with the talented and dedicated cast and crew and with it comes confirmation that leading man Jung Kyung Ho is actually seriously injured as has been rumored for weeks. Due to the heavy action scenes in this drama, most of … Continue reading →
