Wow. I can’t describe what I just watched using words that don’t involve expletives. What the hell was all that? Magic voices? The mastermind bike burglar? Hwa Young unraveling but no one forcefully institutionalizing her? Bong Sun remaining steadfast to her “I don’t know why we broke up, but I’m sure it’s a valid reason” illogic? Episode 14 of Me … Continue reading →
When did Yeo Jin Gu‘s voice change? He sounds like a man, and not a kid on the cusp of manhood. The first teaser for The Moon that Embraces the Sun is out, and I almost did a double take since the kids are striking me as remarkably adult already. Poised and animated, they start off this drama with such … Continue reading →
I don’t know why I like to tease Park Shi Hoo all the time, considering I like him well enough I’ve watched most of his dramas. Probably because I secretly think he’s cuter than I like to publicly admit. Or maybe because teasing him has become a collective fun sport with no harm but plenty of chuckle. His latest photospread … Continue reading →
This episode of Me Too, Flower! left me strangely unmoved. The interesting writing, great acting, and lovely directing was still all there, but I felt a bit like I was being manipulated to feel something that didn’t need to be felt. With Jae Hee pulling the rug out from under Hwa Young and then smacking her upside the head with … Continue reading →
I’m not terribly excited about the upcoming Wild Romance with Lee Dong Wook and Lee Shi Young, and the first teaser doesn’t change my feelings (yet). I do hope the drama actually follows through with the baseball theme, instead of doing a bait-and-switch like Man of Honor did. Lee Shi Young’s barftastic hairdo actually looks not nearly as ugly when … Continue reading →
WANT. You know Korea’s been having a field day with those Flower Boy drama(s) from tvN – Flower Boy Ramyun Shop and the upcoming Shut Up: Flower Boy Band. So what if Japan combined the two? A dorama about a lead singer of a band that decides to open a restaurant, with resident panty-melting hottie Mukai Osamu in his first leading … Continue reading →
Actors from an entertainment agency gathering for a magazine photo shoot might be the new hot thing in Korea. Dropping the same month as the King Kong folks posed for High Cut Magazine, the gang from BH Entertainment shot a charity pictorial for InStyle Korea. This party actually had a purpose, since the photo shoot was done the same … Continue reading →
RIM just announced lower than expected forecast for next quarter, and the slew of bad news has been dogging the company for the past year since it’s unable to keep up with the smart phone market. One of the digs against RIM is that it just doesn’t “get it”, doesn’t understand cultural shifts, get onboard with the correct trends so … Continue reading →
Oh heyall no! Me Too, Flower! better have some tricks up its sleeve, because the preview for episode 13 pissed me off. The story trajectory appears to be a blend of the angst seen in My Name is Kim Sam Soon crossed with Lie to Me. It can be a feint, or temporary, or necessary to get Jae Hee over … Continue reading →
Okay, why wasn’t I invited to this holiday party! Oh right. Because I am not part of King Kong Entertainment, one of the more well known agencies in Korea. For the late December edition of High Cut, the pretty and talented entertainers of the agency gathered together for a cheerful photoshoot. I mostly just recognize the always sultry Kim Suh … Continue reading →
Some folks asked me nicely if I could do baby recaps for Office Girls, and I think I might do just that. I still love watching this drama even if there isn’t much meat to recap. Baby recaps ought to be the right compromise. Zi Qi and Xing Ren continue to express themselves more around each other, yet when it … Continue reading →
Almost a year after the premiere of My Princess, the breezy and cute drama reunited its main cast in Tokyo this past weekend for a concert event. Attending were leads Song Seung Heon and Kim Tae Hee, second lead Ryu Soo Young taking time out from his other gig on Ojakkyo Brothers, and Ki Kwang plus his BEAST mates. Everyone looks … Continue reading →
Glory to the drama gods. Please accept my sincere homage for turning Skip Beat into a reality. And not just any reality, episode 1 proves that this drama can be everything the manga should have been, and then some. It’s not perfect in acting and execution, but the heart is all there. Immediately we fall into the universe that is … Continue reading →
