There are even MORE dramas in the pipeline? When I said I wanted to talk about dramas, I didn’t think I’d be drowning in them at some point. The list of K-actors heading overseas to film felt like it jumped exponentially in 2011, and joining the ranks is Kim Jeong Hoon (Goong, I Need Romance), who got out of the … Continue reading →
When watching dramas, I can simply like or dislike based on my immediate reaction. It’s personal and introspective. When writing about dramas, my likes and dislikes take on a life of its own outside my private thought bubble. I’ve noticed people can be offended if it differs from theirs, or find validation when it coincides therewith. That’s fine by me, … Continue reading →
Oh holy heck yes! Man of Honor is rolling along at just the right speed for me, and I get the feeling the production knows the overarching story it wants to tell without throwing in everything but the kitchen sink sometime down the line. I’m thrilled that the drama appears to not shy away from Young Kwang and Jae In’s … Continue reading →
If I were a stoner and bandied about using their lingo, I’d call these set of pictures of Kim Sun Ah for Armani “righteous”. She looks classy, womanly, and sophisticated, just the right combination to model some watches for the European brand. Her last project, the movie Fighting Spirit with Kim Joo Hyuk, was a modest success at the box … Continue reading →
It was the best of episodes, it was the worst of episodes. Okay, I’m just kidding about the worst part. Episode 12 of Office Girls satisfied every expectation I had since salivating over the previews last week. But sadly, it also took the first step in setting the stage for possible future conflicts. Oh Mama Shen, I worry for you! … Continue reading →
The first pictorial for the Winter 2011 collection of Codes Combine are out, and the spokescouple for the brand (since the Fall collection) are the reunited Jang Geun Seok and Park Shin Hye since their You’re Beautiful days. I do like these pictures, but can’t help but wish they were better. The dead looking Wintry background looks fake, and the … Continue reading →
I often wonder what it’s like to be a breakout star. 2011 started off with Yang Mi hitting the jackpot with Jade Palace Lock Heart, and ends with Liu Shi Shi rocketing to fame with Bu Bu Jing Xin. I’ve been following Shi Shi’s career for years now, so it’s kinda weird to see her become so mainstream, complete with … Continue reading →
Dayum, this movie looks goooooood. The upcoming period political-war-intrigue C-movie White Vengeance (Chinese title 鴻門宴 which translates as The Banquet at Hong Gate) finally released it’s official trailer (complete with official English subs, woo hoo) leading up to it’s end of November premiere. Starring Leon Lai as famed warlord General Liu Bang, Feng Shao Feng as his best friend-turned-rival also … Continue reading →
Sigh. Since Office Girls started, twelve-episodes in, this was the first time the drama has planted the seeds of angst. Mama Shen’s health is now an open question (serious or not?), Xing Ren’s career might be headed towards a crossroads, and Kai Er is down but not out. Tia Li gave an interview this week saying that she will be … Continue reading →
Between filming her recent dramas, the always busy Janine Chang actually made an upcoming racing movie that is starting to ramp up promotions for it’s early December release. The movie is called Racing Legend, and looks like a Days of Thunder redux with some changes to the story, but capitalizing on the love of racing movies that we can all … Continue reading →
Looks like Director Ronny Yu’s mega-budget period war movie Saving General Yang is potentially looking for an American distributor. The first official still from the movie, starring among others Adam Cheng, Ekin Cheng, Wu Zun, Vic Zhou, and Raymond Lam, showed up at a distributor exhibition in Los Angeles over the weekend. This is a full and direct look at … Continue reading →
When Rainie Yang first debuted, she was the very essence of the girl-next-door sunshine girl, and she’s cultivated a very down-to-earth image for her entire career. 2011 was the tenth year anniversary of her entertainment career, and it’s no high praise to say she’s hitting one career achievement after another. After Drunken to Love You and releasing a hit album, … Continue reading →
You all know I’m loving Man of Honor, but that love is primarily caused by adoring the two lead characters plus really enjoying the snappy execution that makes every episode appear to just fly by. The ratings for MoH is nearing the mid-teens, but I’m not certain anymore whether this drama will ever be a bona fide hit and break … Continue reading →
