So Cha Eun Woo turned down that conceptually weird turning into a chicken nugget drama but ended up doing a less weird turning into a dog drama lol. This one sounds like a webtoon artist plugged elements into a random story generator and came up with a fantasy romance conceit for upcoming drama A Good Day to be a Dog. … Continue reading →
The production team behind the jTBC drama Behind Your Touch also did one of my all time favorite K-dramas The Light in Your Eyes, and in fact female lead Han Ji Min is reuniting as the deal for both dramas. I guess what I am trying to say is that despite how weird and off putting the premise of Behind … Continue reading →
I love me a good melon and especially one that gives me a sliver of hope in something I am looking forward to. Over the weekend a melon was circulating broadly in C-ent that period xianxia romance drama Lost You Forever would air Part 2 not next summer 2024 but instead follow closing to the just finished Part 1 and … Continue reading →
Getting popular in another country usually takes one mega hit project and for K-actresses it’s being in a K-drama that happens to be super popular in that country for whatever reason, sometimes even more popular that domestically. But staying on top needs continuous string of good projects after that and for actress-singer IU she’s a double threat with her acting … Continue reading →
tvN weekend drama The Uncanny Counter 2 is only slated for 12-episodes and with this weekend through episode 8 with ratings in the 3-4% range it’s clear this is not the hit the first season was in 2021. The concern that male lead Jo Byung Kyu‘s bullying allegation with its unconclusive resolution would affect the ratings led to the current … Continue reading →
Two C-dramas were affected this past week due to a rookie/newbie actor named Chu Zi Jun, who at 22 years old and barely into the industry may already be done with career wise. C-ent gossip is saying that Chu Zi Jun is being investigated for rape after an accusation, and that he was led away by authorities on the filming … Continue reading →
So Part 1 of Lost You Forever wrapped this week and was it a satisfying as all out drama adaptation of the novel for me. Not perfect and plenty of small detail changes here and there but it was faithful in narrative, tone, and pace. Originally Part 2 was scheduled to air during Lunar New Year 2024 so around January/February … Continue reading →
I can totally understand why C-dramas already filmed would want to just air as soon as possible these days, so many random and impacting airing requirements come down willy nilly not to mention the risk of someone in the cast suddenly doing something offensive or cancelable and it’s a no brainer to just air and get your money back. Supernatural … Continue reading →
Xianxia C-drama Love You Seven Times with Ding Yu Xi and Yang Chao Yue premiered last week to mega high expectations, it’s pre-airing reservations was even higher than Lost You Forever and The Longest Promise in terms of this summer’s big dramas. That was due primarily to the drama being the sister project to last summer’s biggest surprise hit Love … Continue reading →
The weekends is nursing a prestige drama that could have a chance to become a ratings hit, it’s still wait and see but the trajectory is promising. MBC Fri-Sat sageuk My Dearest (Lover) with Namgoong Min and Ahn Eun Jin got solid reviews but low ratings in the 5% range when it premiered two weeks ago. This is now the … Continue reading →
So with the summer coming to a close it appears iQiyi wants to squeeze in one more high profile C-drama and it’s reportedly going to be My Journey to You (The Wing of Clouds) with Zhang Ling He and Yu Shu Xin (Esther Yu). I’m first loling that Zhang Ling He will see this drama air before his Story of … Continue reading →
Call me pleasantly surprised that the premiere weekend of jTBC drama Behind Your Touch did not end in flaming from viewers over the butt touching mind reading ability conceit. Reviews are positive though acknowledging the humor is really slapstick and throwback but as long as viewers enjoy that tone and so far nothing is offensive then the production really needs … Continue reading →
I’ve been checked out of weekend K-dramas for years but still feel the need to follow along with what’s next because you never know when one will toddle along and hook me. Currently airing KBS weekend drama The Real Has Come has been really mediocre from all accounts but the next one has one secret weekend weapon in female lead … Continue reading →
