Daaaang, what I would give to be a fly on the wall there? Or maybe a fly flying around since I don’t see any nearby walls close enough to eavesdrop. Top actresses Song Yoon Ah and Son Ye Jin are between projects and recently spent some quality girl time together as evidenced by two pictures shared on Son Ye Jin … Continue reading →
It’s such a wild ride this year with the behind-the-scenes shenanigans over the popularity voting in the 2021 Baeksang Awards, to be held later this week. It was only three years ago that the Baeksang’s combined the Popularity Award given separately to the film and television categories, so there were four winners each year, and now there are just two. … Continue reading →
The premise of Bossam: Stealing Fate is that widow-hood in Joseon era was THE pits. Women who had the misfortunate to have their husband die must either live in spinsterhood forever or kill themselves to continue serving as the wife in death. Bossam gave widows a second chance, some were unwilling while others participated in orchestrating the kidnapping so they … Continue reading →
It’s hard to get consensus these days but everywhere I look there appears to be the same opinion about MBC drama Oh My Ladylord (Oh! Master), which is that it sucks so so bad. From K-netizens to I-viewers to C-watchers, the drama starring Lee Min Ki, Nana, and Kang Min Hyuk was never primed to rake in high ratings but … Continue reading →
Spring is midway through and I’ve got my slate of K-dramas that work for me. Looking near term into summer, one of my most anticipated is Seaside Village Cha Cha starring Kim Sun Ho and Shin Mina. He finally gets his long overdue male lead billing in a high profile drama and she’s long overdue for a hit after picking … Continue reading →
This is a very youth visual heavy drama but since it’s adapted from a manhwa I can totally see the push to cast per the shoujo style drawings. The upcoming romance sageuk Affection (Yeonmo) has reportedly started filming with a fall 2021 airing date, and the production company is slowly revealing new cast members. In addition to leads Ro Woon … Continue reading →
The first hit movie out of the Taiwan domestic film industry is here and it’s the bittersweet romance Man in Love, a remake of the same name Korean movie with Hwang Jung Min and Kim Hee Jin. The TW-version stars Roy Qiu and Tiffany Ann Hsu, a great pairing that should have worked together in the plethora of TW-dramas out … Continue reading →
We’ll have to wait until year end to assess the success of the 2021 sageuks but all eyes are now on SBS late summer premiere of Hong Chun Gi (Red Sky) with the high profile adaptation of the romance sageuk novel by the writer of Sungkyunkwan Scandal and The Moon Embraces the Sun. The latter remains the highest rated sageuk … Continue reading →
KBS had a sageuk this year with River Where the Moon Rises and SBS is preparing to air Hong Chun Gi (Red Sky) in the summer, not to be left out MBC is prepping a traditional sageuk drama adapted from a novel. It’s called The Red Sleeve Cuff and is a novel chronicling the rise of a court lady to … Continue reading →
I’m don’t know who was right and wrong in the Ahn Jae Hyun and Gu Hye Sun marital dissolution mudslinging accusations, but to have this saga continue after the divorce was granted nearly 2 years ago and the timing with Ahn Jae Hyun returning to New Journey to the West feels sus to me. Gu Hye Sun has hired a … Continue reading →
This is definitely near the top of my anticipation radar, it’s pretty impressive the production got two acting acclaimed actors to do what sounds like a mainstream romance K-drama. Choi Woo Shik and Kim Da Mi are confirmed and will head into filming this July 2021 for the drama Us That Year (That Year Us) which sounds like some old … Continue reading →
I feel like these two are overdue for a well received drama, and by gosh I’m rooting for them now. Jang Ki Yong and Hyeri are about to return to the small screen with the fantasy romance My Roommate is a Gumiho but we get a first glimpse of their onscreen visuals and chemistry in the newly released pictorial on … Continue reading →
It felt like this production came together quick and hopefully it portends a quality product with how quickly the leads signed up.
