The Secret Royal Inspector (or Royal Secret Agent) is retiring with fanfare as the KBS Mon-Tues drama wrapped up this week to a really admirable ratings run. It started off the usual low 5.0% and ended with the final episode 16 having both segments in double digits with 10.2% and 14.0%. Overall the drama headlined by L (Kim Myung Soo), … Continue reading →
My hot and heavy swooning over Ro Woon‘s performance and character in jTBC drama Sunbae Please Don’t Put on That Lipstick (She Would Never Know) has cooled which is good because that was all hormones talking and the most recent batch of episodes I can focus on the plot. It’s actually not as wack as I thought it would go, … Continue reading →
Upcoming tvN drama Mouse is certainly marching in a no-nonsense way into its early March premiere, with none of the shiny glitzy promos and an overwhelming sense of dread. The first drama poster was pretty plain featuring male leads Lee Seung Gi and Lee Hee Joon staring at something with a police gaze and now the individual posters take the … Continue reading →
It’s a two-fer for K-actor Kang Ha Neul in dramas this year, and who knows he may even do more! The award winning actor has picked his next leading man role and has signed on for legal thriller Insider as Kim Yo Han who works at the legal research center. He’s cruelly betrayed by his bestie classmate and sets off … Continue reading →
Gosh what a lovely teaser preview, so simple yet so impactful. tvN released the first peek at upcoming March 2021 K-drama Navillera, based on the same name webtoon which was also adapted earlier into a stage show already. It tells the story of a retired postal worker played in the drama by Park In Hwan who gave up his dream … Continue reading →
Super Bowl weekend is normally quiet in box office premieres in the US during the pre-COVID era and the only movie to drop is smaller budget counterprogramming. With theaters mostly still closed in many countries around the world, movie premieres have been either with lower box office expectation and haul or moving to streaming premieres. Korean sci-fi movie Space Sweepers … Continue reading →
K-actress Gong Hyo Jin has such a fresh, quirky, chic vibe she’s the opposite of what I would think of a makjang queen whether in dramas or in real life. But for her next drama she’s going full meta and the drama sounds like it’s a drama-within-a-drama. She’s signed on for the Netflix produced K-drama Woman of Crisis playing the … Continue reading →
Next week is the finale of Queen Cheorin (Mr. Queen) and it’ll be interesting to see how the drama deals with both historical King Cheoljeong and his situation as well as whether Bong Hwan’s soul will stay in Joseon forever or go back to modern times. I’m fairly certain Bong Hwan is the reincarnated future self of So Young, perhaps … Continue reading →
Every time I hear a drama or movie with a story about weird stuff happening on an island I just think of Lost lol. It’s been over a decade but that island fantasy drama was so riveting live watching and there is still tons of cool concepts to be mined about weird shit on islands. K-actor Kim Nam Gil is … Continue reading →
Hhhhmmmm, this is one adorable pairing that I didn’t even know that I missed and totally realize I need. Kim Sun Ho and Moon Ga Young are the new face in 2021 of NAU brand casual athletic apparel, a smart casting choice as they exude complementary gorgeous wholesome appeal. It’s a reunion for the two as they worked together in … Continue reading →
I think by aging down the leads of River Where the Moon Rises from the first concept when veteran stars were courted for the roles, it will end up having a broader I-audience appeal due to the Hallyu popularity of the younger leads. That’s great because sageuks truly have its own appeal and if done so an unforgettable pathos in … Continue reading →
tvN Sat-Sun drama Queen Cheorin (Mr. Queen) is now down to the penultimate weekend of airing and I’m back to being more interest solely to see what the writer has in store to wrap up this story. As cheaply and dorkily as source drama Go Princess Go was executed (HOMG the homemade costumes and “special” effects were to be seen), … Continue reading →
Whew, I didn’t realize I was holding my breath but I totally was lol! I want Space Sweepers (Spaceship Victory) to be good because I want to watch a good movie, I hope male lead Song Joong Ki returns to form with a successful project after the mega disappointment that was Arthdal Chronicles, and because it’s a win for all … Continue reading →
