SBS Fri-Sat drama Alice would have benefited so much from airing on OCN and being a tight 12-episodes like Train. I’m making this conclusion even though it’s not finished yet because the last few episodes have felt like much ado about not a lot, dragging things out to fill screen time when it could be much tighter to maintain the … Continue reading →
I wonder if its time to change the name of upcoming jTBC drama Run On, to Run Stop Run Stop. It’s unfortunate because I’m really looking forward for this drama starring Im Shi Wan, Shin Se Kyung, Sooyoung, and Kang Tae Oh with a refreshing two sets of OTP structure. The filming stopped once in August due to an actual … Continue reading →
Ooooohhhhh, I totally lost track of this drama so it’s such a treat to see promos for this randomly this week. The upcoming November jTBC drama Live On has released first stills, script reading, and a teaser preview already and I’m totally vibing with it. The cast is young and a visual treat with leads teen actress Jung Da Bin … Continue reading →
The Tale of Gumiho turns out to be as old as time, heh. Boy loves girl, boy loses girl, boy waits for girl to reincarnate, oh and boy misplaces younger brother who turns into a single minded revenge asshole. That about sums it up. Episode 4 continued the strong balance of practical mystery solving, and our female lead Ji Ah … Continue reading →
The lambs are all lined up for the makjang slaughter to come, lol. The leads and full cast have been confirmed for crazy (in drama and real life) screenwriter Im Sung Han‘s comeback drama Marriage Story. She wrote New Tales of the Gisaeng which a lot of people loved, and her even earlier dramas The Jewel Family and Miss Mermaid … Continue reading →
Movie going in 2020 with COVID-19 has been wildly up and down to say the least. In South Korea the theaters stayed open with social distancing of every other seat remaining empty which cut into admissions and tickets sold. Basically every K-movie released this year with have an asterisk next to it but that’s ok, we can at least look … Continue reading →
Wed-Thurs tvN drama Tale of Gumiho (Tale of the Nine-Tailed) continues to captivate my entire attention for the full hour, with episode 3 getting even darker into the horror and mythology. I mean, Donner party hello? I still don’t feel the romantic chemistry between the leads Lee Dong Wook and Jo Boa but they are doing so well in their … Continue reading →
Too bad K-actor Park Bo Gum is in the army because this drama and production team behind it just screams for his headlining. PD Shin Won Ho of Prison Playbook and Hospital Playlist, and also the three Answer Me series, has released his next drama work. The drama is called Racket Youth Team (or Racket Boys Team) and is a … Continue reading →
Poor Lee Soo Hyuk, he’s so talented but nearly always mistreated in a K-drama because he keeps getting like the worst written second male lead roles. Born Again was new levels of bad in the writing and his character had zero consistency and basically a lobotomy. Hopefully this new drama will change the trajectory because it sounds promising already – … Continue reading →
I don’t have second male lead syndrome in Record of Youth but episode 12 totally made me ship Hae Hyo and Jung Ah at the end of the episode. It helps that Byun Woo Seok finally broke out and emoted to the screen and the sexual tension was so thick you can slice it with a spoon in the last … Continue reading →
This Saturday we’ll see if tvN drama Start-Up flies high or flails, I’m of course hoping for the former because I’ve loved all the dramas from screenwriter Park Hye Ryung. Leads Suzy, Nam Joo Hyuk, Kim Sun Ho, and Kang Hana attended the press conference and I wished their coordinating outfits were brighter and more cheerful as this drama is … Continue reading →
This has so much potential to be awesome or awesomely trainwreck. Man, I love me some rough angry boy Ji Soo but he was so so sooooo bad in Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo which convinced me he should stay far far away from sageuks. But now he’s coming back and playing his 8th brother Kang Ha Neul’s son lololol, … Continue reading →
Okay, this is the first episode I “felt” emotionally connected to Hye Joon and Jung Ah’s sweeter than cotton candy healthy romance in Record of Youth. Yes they are so thoughtful towards each other but it had been so boring since the very beginning. But this episode I really see why Jung Ah has her own agency in life and … Continue reading →
