The K-viewers have spoken the melo remains King of the K-drama ratings, at least for the foreseeable next 8 weeks in the Wed-Thurs time slot. Despite being neck and neck with yesterday’s airing, this Thursday saw KBS fantasy melodrama Black Knight solidly come in first place with 9.3% AGB ratings, followed by Judge vs. Judge (Nothing to Lose) with 7.1% … Continue reading →

K-actorJi Chang Wook has been gone from the entertainment limelight for 4 months since enlisting for his mandatory military service in the middle of August. Things have been slow since he left, with nary anything buzzworthy whether drama or movie. It’s adorable to see how this good looking young man always sharply styled for media events has transformed back to … Continue reading →
The showdown between robot, knight and judge has a victor by a small margin in the first joust. Wednesday’s K-dramas found SBS legal drama Judge v. Judge (Nothing to Lose) taking advantage of it’s one week head start as it took in 6.6% and 7.3% AGN nationwide ratings. Coming in second was 6.9% for KBS fantasy melo Black Knight with … Continue reading →
This isn’t the biggest K-ent dating news but as a completist I want to report on it. Actor-singer Seo In Guk revealed that he was dating singer Park Bo Ram, not just a recent relationship but the couple has been together for the past year and a half. Park Bo Ram is a former contestant on Superstar K2 in 2014 … Continue reading →
I find the fashion visuals at the press conference for KBS drama Black Knight as nicely assembled as the drama has looked in all the preview trailers so far. Shin Se Kyung‘s black and white chaste shirt dress with bow, Kim Rae Won in navy and grey with smoking matching suede smoking shoes, and Seo Ji Hye in fire engine … Continue reading →
I almost spit out my coffee when I saw the first official character stills for Cha Seung Won in the tvN fantasy drama Hwayugi (A Korean Odyssey). Part circus barker crossed with a Victorian gentleman and part slick Korean gangster crossed with a club operator, his character is the modern incarnation of the fabled Bull Demon King here called King … Continue reading →

To modernize and move across a cultural border the famed Monkey King character from the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West is an ambitious feat but somehow fitting that the K-drama screenwriting Hong Sisters are the ones to tackle it. Their upcoming tvN drama Hwayugi (A Korean Odyssey) has so far only released moody teasers of the three leads … Continue reading →
I haven’t seen such a dud filled Mon-Tues prime time K-drama trifecta in quite some time, which is perhaps a good thing as the year end busy season with work, family, and travel plans makes for less time to watch. Today saw the premiere of the last Mon-Tues drama of 2017 with KBS workplace series Jugglers, coming in with a … Continue reading →
I know K-ent acting awards are mostly popularity and ratings driven but when it’s not and I totally disagree there’s a weird disconnect of wondering why this person got a nod. the 2017 Grimae Awards voted on my the Korean Television Producers Association handed out Best Actor to Ji Sung for Defendant, winning Best Actress is Seo Hyun Jin in Temperature … Continue reading →
A good bromance is even better when it consistently feeds goodies to fans. Rising young Korean actors Ji Soo and Nam Joo Hyuk are doing their best to walk in the two decades long bromance friendship steps of top Korean movie stars Jung Woo Sung and Lee Jung Jae, showcasing a guy friendship whilst supporting each other’s burgeoning careers. They … Continue reading →
This week is the premiere of new MBC Wed-Thurs K-drama I am Not a Robot, which definitely is K-drama style rom-com as far as I can tell. Even better is that this one has elements of the kooky, unlike the last so-called rom-com I watched This Life is My First which had a few laugh out loud moments but overall … Continue reading →
