This Monday August 28th is Chinese Valentine’s Day, annually the 7th day of the 7th month in the lunar calendar when the weaver girl and the cow herder boy meet in the Milky Way. C-dramas are having a field day sharing new OTP stills either for currently airing dramas or even ones that are still filming. All my attention is … Continue reading →
To remain one of Korea’s top actresses and popular stars for two decades is quite a feat and while Jeon Ji Hyun is not the only one to do so she has pulled it off with seemingly effortless success. But digging into her interviews in the past shows a self-aware and quietly confident star who shares the hard work it … Continue reading →
The waning days of summer is also the kickoff to the biggest fashion season of the year in fall. The colors and fabrics transition from the playful and light to the experimental and substantial, and this year Italian design house Bottega Veneta is showcasing a lot of blacks and whites judging from the main color palate of the K-stars out … Continue reading →
I still get a smile when I think of Kim Hee Sun‘s last drama Angry Mom, the affection I have for her performance almost makes me want to give Faith another chance. I’m leaning going back down memory lane rather than look forward to her recently finished drama Women of Dignity with Kim Sun Ah, it was darker than I’m … Continue reading →
It’s still hot out in the dog days of summer but I’m predicting simmering romance degrees to come in September when SBS airs the first romance drama of the fall with Temperature of Love, taking over from Falsify on Mon-Tues. Leading lady Seo Hyun Jin is riding a career high wave of drama successes with Another Oh Hae Young followed … Continue reading →
After MBC‘s tonally insensitive start for the most recent Wed-Thurs drama The Man Who Dies to Live, which premiered at the top of the ratings for that time slot and kept the lead to the end, there isn’t much Hospital Ship can do to top that shaky launch. It is lucky in that KBS is failing miserably with Manhole and … Continue reading →
I loved Answer Me 1988 but was never in the shipping wars, nor did I become a rabid Ryu Jun Yeol fan afterwards as many folks I know did. He did a fantastic job playing a truly well written role but I didn’t parlay that beyond the drama, but many of his fans got to continue getting to know him … Continue reading →
The first teaser is here for OCN‘s fall thriller drama Black, not to be confused with the lackluster Mr. Black from a few years ago. This Black seems to be all about the color and it’s connotations, from living to death, from hope to despair. The teaser has blooming pink roses quickly shriveled up before cutting to moody cutaways of … Continue reading →
This was one military enlistment that I was hoping wouldn’t end, and certainly was quite disappointed that it took on the same scandal-plagued enlistment of another idol-actor Kim Hyun Joong. Fans and media were out in force for the discharge of Park Yoochun after serving his military enlistment in the police unit. His enlistment took a crazy detour after he … Continue reading →
Well this comes as no surprise due to recent happenings but is still a sad news to share. Dating acting couple Lee Jun Ki and Jeon Hye Bin have confirmed that they are broken up, with their mutual agency explaining that the couple broke up after two years of dating due to their busy schedules. Lee Jun Ki is currently … Continue reading →
There’s a new screenwriter powerhouse in town and she’s moving upstream after two mega K-drama hits in a row. Writer Baek Mi Kyung has singlehandedly put jTBC in legit ratings contention after delivering two back-to-back hits for the cable network. She quietly arrived with My Love Eun Dong and then took off with Strong Woman Do Bong Soon earlier in … Continue reading →
The second baby arrival of K-ent baby boom of 2017 is here and a big congrats to new parents Ryu Soo Young and Park Ha Sun. The couple have been dating since meeting on the set of K-drama Two Weeks and after dating for three years got married earlier this year so 2017 is double the happiness for them in … Continue reading →
Whether Hospital Ship sinks or sails will rest of Ha Ji Won‘s shoulders, much as I am loathe to put so much pressure on her. If the writing sucks I will feel like she let herself down by picking this drama, and if the casting and the youngsters around her don’t deliver then she stumbled in not being able to … Continue reading →
