Park Min Young just wrapped melodrama sageuk Seven Days Queen and looks remarkably rested and beautifully fresh-faced at the drama wrap party this week. On the flip side she’s dressed like she time-traveled forward to the modern era and is really the queen from Joseon because once she arrived she had no clue how to dress and put on an … Continue reading →
When I first heard of the upcoming jTBC drama The Package it didn’t raise any eyebrows on the title but now with the KBS drama Manhole I can’t help sniggering over the possibility of The Package encountering the Manhole. All juvenile jokes aside, The Package was pre-filmed overseas in France on an extensive location shoot that plays central to the … Continue reading →
The cool friends contingent was out in force to support the bromance cop antics movie Midnight Runners starring Park Seo Joon and Kang Ha Neul. The former is coming off a well-received turn in K-drama Fight My Way while the later is in the news thanks to prepping for military enlistment next month, so this movie is coming along at … Continue reading →
If you want guns, fights, and a dose of justice served Chinese style then the summer blockbuster C-movie Wolf Warrior 2 may be worth checking out. The first Wolf Warrior was a middling box office hit in 2015 but the sequel is shattering box office records and is on track in the next few days to become the number 1 … Continue reading →
When I hear someone has been doing a job for fifteen years I tend to ascribe a slightly older age bracket to them so it’s really incredible that J-actress Ishihara Satomi is celebrating her 15th anniversary in J-ent this year and she’s only 30 years old. She just released a special 15th anniversary photo book, a staple among younger Japanese … Continue reading →
The more I hear about the straight up plagiarism scandal of the last month around hit Chinese music show The Rap of China (Chinese title China Has Hip-Hop) basically being a copycat of hit Korean program Show Me the Money the more it pisses me off. And I didn’t even watch the original, lol, but some stuff is just so … Continue reading →
I’ve heard the current buzz in dramaland has been with recently ended tvN drama Secret Forest (Stranger), which got high cable ratings starting over 3% and going up steadily to end with 6.5% for the final episode. I’ve yet to catch up with the darker dramas as summer time I’m in the mood for lighter fare, even light poorly plotted … Continue reading →
Any new updates from Song Hye Kyo are inevitably going to get connected to her upcoming marriage to Song Joong Ki but she remains tastefully doing her day job as usual. One is striking while the iron is hot and the other is coming back after a decade hiatus, I have high hopes this vast gulf will bring together two talented acting stars for drama magic onscreen this fall. Cable network tvN has confirmed the leads for its fall drama This Life is Our First, first with news that movie actor … Continue reading →
I’m such a happy sucker for happy celeb pictures and glowing pretty pictures of expecting actresses is near the top of the list, just behind wedding pictorials and candid baby snaps. K-actress Lee Shi Young hit a triple last month when she finished filming drama Lookout and then announced she was getting married and also expecting her first child with … Continue reading →
Celebrities get their personal decisions pored over by fans much less career ones so it’s no surprise to hear the backlash after K-actor Lee Jong Seok updated that he will be asking for a postponement of his military enlistment. He received official notice last week and was supposed to enlist by the middle of August, but due to work commitments … Continue reading →
It hasn’t been a long wait between the drama and movie versions of Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms, just the right amount of time to still fondly remember drama Eternal Love and have a hankering for another dose with movie Once Upon a Time. In terms of pure visuals the movie leads Yang Yang and Crystal Liu … Continue reading →
