Call it a case of truly unfortunate make up, paired with someone with enough plastic surgery for this to highlight the features a tad too starkly. K-actress Nam Gyu Ri attended the press conference for upcoming weekend drama Yes, That’s How It Is looking like a waxy doll come to life. I don’t necessarily think she’s gotten more work done … Continue reading →
I don’t think it’ll be all that hard to weather the period of 22 months with Lee Seung Gi off in the Korean army when the first snap of him shows how well he’s adjusting to life in uniform. Clearly serving military service is no easy task for any of the Korean enlisted men even if it’s a a mandatory … Continue reading →
This Saturday February 13th sees the premiere of period C-drama The Imperial Doctress, which has a good shot at being a hit with C-audiences since it looks decently pretty in visuals and has the potential for super angst. Starring Liu Shi Shi as the titular Imperial Doctress, she goes through the fabled Ming courts to become the first female doctor … Continue reading →
I wonder what the soul swapping mythology of upcoming SBS drama Please Come Back Ahjusshi will be? Does the two dead ahjusshi characters in Kim Soo Ro and Kim In Kwon take over the hottie bodies of Rain and Oh Yeon Seo‘s characters, or are those gorgeous physical shells specifically created for them to finish unfinished life business in grand … Continue reading →
It’s been pretty low key in the promotion and buzz around upcoming SBS sageuk drama Saimdang: The Herstory. Other than the initial attention when casting confirmed this drama would be Korean actress Lee Young Ae‘s return to acting in over a decade since headlining the unprecedented worldwide hit drama Dae Jang Geum, the drama settled into quietly pre-filming without getting … Continue reading →
In a drama as big-budget and sprawling upcoming KBS Wed-Thurs drama Descendants of the Sun, there will surely be more than one big story line, and likely won’t rely on the leads romance or narrative to solely hold the audience’s attention. I remember being way more into the side stories in Heirs rather quickly in, and the main romance became … Continue reading →
Hhhhhmmmmm, looking good, leads of Korean Bu Bu Jing Xin! I can breathe a sigh of relief now that the first peek at the two leads of upcoming K-BBJX (Bobogyungsim: Ryeo) can be glimpsed thanks to the prayer ceremony stills. I don’t know why this drama is still being referred to as Moon Lovers in some articles, that was a … Continue reading →
What does one call the progeny of a goddess? A future god in the making probably. Korean A-list actress Jeon Ji Hyun continues to cap off her enviously perfect personal and professional life, this time giving birth to her first baby with her husband of four years. The couple welcomed a baby boy this week, which seems fast since it … Continue reading →
All hail Asian box office legend Stephen Chow – it’s incredible how he has reigned over the Asian box office for three decades now and done it through transformation from leading actor to producer and then director. This past weekend was Lunar New Year eve which marks the biggest box office weekend for the Chinese box office, even bigger than … Continue reading →
The casting of Song Joong Ki straight out of military service in the role of an armed forces commander in Descendants of the Sun seemed so meta perfect when I heard the news. I assumed he would be emerging like a six-pack decked chrysalis post army hence my initial opinion, except he came out of the army basically identical to when … Continue reading →
Thanks to the upcoming February edition of Girl Magazine, I now have a new potential drama pairing that for whatever reason never crossed my mind before. Roy Qiu and Kirsten Jen grace dual covers of Girl Magazine in a spread that straddles the winter and spring fashion divide since February is the month when it starts warming up in some … Continue reading →
With lunar new year over and done with, finally it feels like the never ending slew of holidays has passed and it’s time to get down to business. February marks the arrival of several high profile K-drama premieres, two of which are going head-to-head in three weeks at the end of the month. KBS is finally unveiling the fully pre-produced … Continue reading →
Filming is underway for the C-movie adaptation of popular fantasy period novel Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms, and the early conceptual and costume fitting stills featuring female lead Crystal Liu are stunning and exquisite. I have no doubts male lead Yang Yang, who looks like an Asian marble god statue come to life, will look just as … Continue reading →
