The glitziest night of Taiwanese television took place at the 51st annual Golden Bell Awards Friday night in Taipei. I only pay attention for the fashion and if certain TW-dramas or acting talent that I happen to like for that year are nominated, and this year it was all about Marry Me or Not with Roy Qiu and Alice Ke. The two leads were nominated for Best Acting awards but it was Alice who walked home with her Best Actress trophy while Roy lost out to frontrunner Chris Wu who won Best Actor for his role in period Taiwanese drama A Touch of Green, which also took home Best Drama. The red carpet was more interesting than the Korean awards shows, per usual, and Alice was stunning in both her white red carpet dress with the rocking horse print and layered white her stage dress with chocker and butterfly appliques. None of the winners were a surprise and the entire event went down with smooth precision. Fans of popular SETTV drama Bromance also got a treat to see leads Baron Chen and Megan Lai reunited again. A new year doesn’t mean only doing new things, there’s still plenty of reason to take a break for a nostalgic reunion. At the recent SETTV banquet awards, a few of my fave and fond Taiwan drama pairings made time to … Continue reading
It’s hard to write about the sad events in entertainment, and nothing is as sad than the death of an entertainer. It’s so final, turning the reel enjoyment into a real sadness that seeps through the screen even if the … Continue reading
I’m not gonna lie or ignore the fact that the last few episodes of TW-drama Someone Like You has basically devolved into a narrative farce. There is heart failure, car accidents, and even multiple comas. But the strange thing is … Continue reading
I don’t think this news is purely publicity generating for the currently airing TW-drama Someone Like You, the drama has a few more episodes left in its run and has been doing swell enough in ratings. With that said, take … Continue reading
Just because I like an actor and actress individually never guarantees they would make a stellar onscreen coupling. Even if they do generate chemistry onscreen, it can be wasted in a terrible story and lead to even more teeth gnashing … Continue reading
Watching episode 15 of Someone Like You totally makes me hum the chorus from Walk the Moon’s current hit song “Shut Up and Dance”, except I keep chanting shut up and kiss instead LOL. A big shout out thank you … Continue reading
Sunday night SETTV drama Someone Like You continues to thrum along nicely, an uncomplicated and sweet little drama featuring two of the most likable leads in a long while. This drama romance also took a long time to get going, with … Continue reading
I’m still happily watching TW-drama Someone Like You (Chinese title Hearing Happiness). It’s the SETTV Sunday night tent pole drama but feels like the network’s stepchild with how the daily drama Dear Mom and the Friday night new arrival Murphy’s … Continue reading
Goodies have to be shared to taste even yummier and this week’s best treat has got to be the first three minutes of this week’s episode 6 from Sunday night SETTV idol drama Someone Like You (Hearing Happiness). The drama … Continue reading
It’s Lunar New Year on February 19th this year, much later than the usual early February or late January dates during most years. That’s because the Lunar calender only has 30 days in every month so after a few years … Continue reading
I’ve been watching the latest SETTV drama Someone Like You since it aired but have found nothing to write about til now. It’s not as terrible as Fall in Love with Me but that’s not saying much. SLY is mostly a … Continue reading
If I didn’t know how smoldering Kingone Wang could be onscreen opposite his leading ladies in any drama, I would be freaking out right now based on how terribly awkward he is doing the promo rounds with Kirsten Jen for … Continue reading
