Seeing the actors and actresses featured in the KOFIC K-Actor 200 List continues to impress me with the confirmation that South Korean entertainment is packed with talent. Very few idol-turned-actor/actress made this list so on just the actors and actresses who started their career in that field alone it is packed ten and twenty deep in each type of role, be it lead or supporting or antagonist. And this list isn’t even complete, I can think of actors and actresses who aren’t featured but are top talent as well. That goes to show it’s the industry failing their deep bench by not having enough good dramas and films and also casting for new talent rather than nurturing what is already there. This batch release has some of my faves as well including Park Bo Gum (I miss him!), Park Seo Joon, Kang Ha Neul, Shin Hye Sun, Lee Joon Hyuk, Kim Go Eun, Park So Dam, Kim Ah Joong and many more.

I’m way more fascinated by the fashion, mostly lack thereof, parade at the VIP movie premiere for the thriller movie Fabricated City than I am in the actual movie. Starring Ji Chang Wook and Shim Eun Kyung, the movie is … Continue reading
The nominees are out for the 51st annual Grand Bell Awards, the Korean equivalent of the Academy Awards to honor the industry’s best and brightest filmsĀ and movie stars for the calendar year. This year the only K-movie I watched from … Continue reading
Hate to have to say this, but maybe K-dramas really shouldn’t attempt another Japanese manga adaptation for the foreseeable future. Or at least hold off until it figures out how to delicately flesh out the source material in a Korean … Continue reading
I think we’re getting there to make it-or-break it territory for fans of Nodame’s Cantabile as the K-version barrels towards a premiere date in less than a week. I still remember the shrill cries many many months ago when the … Continue reading
It’s fairly guaranteed that Shim Eun Kyung is going to steal my heart in Tomorrow’s Cantabile. She hasn’t had a failed acting performance yet and even playing iconic character Noda Megumi (Nodame) doesn’t seem like a stretch in her hands. … Continue reading
Regardless of how the Korean version of Nodame Cantabile ends up, at least the early stills from the drama have been promising enough. I don’t have a problem with Joo Won or Shim Eun Kyung‘s sartorial styling or accuracy in … Continue reading
It’s Monday so right on cue KBS released more Tomorrow’s Cantabile goodies. There are now a total of three official drama posters that all share the same beige color scheme along with plenty of instruments to highlight the music theme. … Continue reading
KBS wisely decided enough with the picture teasers and upped the ante yesterday with the release of the first video preview for Tomorrow’s Cantabile. I wonder if anyone who hasn’t seen the original J-dorama adaptation of Nodame Cantabile is staying … Continue reading
I was excited enough writing about how the J-dorama version of Nodame played by Ueno Juri just happened to be in Korea at the same time that the K-drama version of Nodame Shim Eun Kyung had just started filming Tomorrow’s … Continue reading
It’s Korean Nodame and Chiaki together! More accurately it’s Seol Nae Il and Cha Yoo Jin together at last in the first stills of the leads filming Tomorrow’s Cantabile. KBS continues to pace the release of new stills for its … Continue reading
KBSĀ is wasting no time to strike while the interest is high in releasing promotional material for Tomorrow’s Cantabile. Following in the first two stills released yesterday of leading man Joo Won as a music conductor, the network has dropped one … Continue reading
Y’all know that Joo Won does nothing for me, but hot diggity does his first official character posters for Tomorrow’s Cantabile look drop dead handsome. Everything is just perfect in the hot off the press two posters from the attire … Continue reading
