The musical chairs of TW-casting totally hit a homerun here and brought up a complete reunion of all four leads. This week TW-ent announced and upcoming anthology series titled Not Kind Enough Us (不夠善良的我們) with dual female leads Ariel Lin and Tiffany Ann Hsu playing onscreen romance rivals for 12 years. Man, is the It Started with a Kiss rivalry … Continue reading →
So this official promo drop came from nowhere so I didn’t see it until a few days later but no fret here it is, the first posters and stills for the upcoming xianxia C-drama The Last Immortal (Hidden Gods). Starring Zhao Lu Si and Wang An Yu, the drama is a sequel of sorts to Ancient Love Poetry which starred … Continue reading →
Okay, I just want an even smexier and hotter version of Lighter and Princess and this C-drama is guaranteed to make my day/month/year. Filming has commenced for modern C-drama Into the Storm based on a popular same name novel and starring buzzy stars Wu Lei and Zhao Jin Mai. A chunk of the story takes place overseas and the production … Continue reading →
The title of the C-drama couldn’t be more apt and a big kudos to the production and cast of modern police and crime thriller The Knockout for being the first hit of 2023. I don’t think international viewers of C-dramas have paid attention or noticed this drama but since its premiere two weeks ago on January 14th it’s been THE … Continue reading →
So the ratings on Douban for C-drama Unchained Love (Forbidden Love) really caught up on the general feedback with its ratings at 6.7 on the heel on its conclusion last week. I was interested in checking back in after hearing it got better in the middle probably around episode 14 and after. But then the drama ended last week and … Continue reading →
The C-drama train is off to a new year 2023 and one of the dramas I followed last year during filming has just gotten closer to airing. Modern sports romance Nothing But You has just gotten its airing permit but had to cut 2-episodes worth of material. That’s not a lot, some dramas get sliced even up to half, recently … Continue reading →
When a drama I took note of when it started filming then pops back up on radar to hear that it finished filming and that 6 months flew by I’m always rather a tad melancholy since it’s like reel life intruding on real life time passing. Wuxia C-drama A Journey to Love wrapped last week and the cast and crew … Continue reading →
The slow stroll towards the 2023 sometime arrival of modern college era romance C-drama Hidden Love starts off with a milestone this January. Youku announced that the series has over 1 million reservations, viewers interested in watching the drama, and is the fastest to cross that threshold on the platform. Congrats to the production team and leads Chen Zhe Yuan … Continue reading →
So I’ve jumped over in my interest for the next Wu Lei drama from his upcoming sports modern romance with the older woman-younger man set up Nothing But You to his currently filming billiards romance During the Snowstorm. The latter just sounds more appealing to me plus his female lead is Zhao Jin Mai, whereas I’m just along for the … Continue reading →
This pairing is so out of left field in both the level and also suitability with the characters. A new C-drama started filming this week called Stories of Our Youth (Chinese title 199 Love) adapted from the same name novel. It spans three decades telling the story of six kids who grew in the same neighborhood but went their own … Continue reading →
The last C-drama to premiere before year end 2022 is unfortunately an early reviews dud. Sure it can get better but Forbidden Love (also called Unchained Love) with Dylan Wang and Chen Yu Qi (Yukee Chen) takes the former back to the poorly reviews days prior to his hit drama Love Before Fairy and Devil and puts the latter squarely … Continue reading →
The reception for this C-drama will confirm whether 2022 is the year of the Dylan in C-drama land. Right as I thought no new big C-dramas would air before year end then wham bam thank you ma’am here comes Forbidden Love released today on December 27th right in time to call itself a 2022 drama. Starring Dylan Wang and Chen … Continue reading →
Filming has kicked off for the C-drama adaptation of period fantasy romance novel Hidden God, the sequel in the same story that was Ancient Love Poetry. It will be Zhao Lu Si‘s first role in a xianxia drama (about time!) and she’s got top billing here so if the drama succeeds or fails will definitely impact what the industry thinks … Continue reading →
