Now that Miss Rose is finally over, SETTV is wasting no time ushering in its next Sunday night idol drama 金大花的華麗冒險 (literal title Jin Da Hua’s Extravagant Adventure, but I think its English title will be Replacement Princess or Substitute Princess based on its original drama title). Starring Nikki Hsieh, James Wen, Chris Wu, Chao Chun Ya, Yao Yao (Guo … Continue reading →
The army taketh, the army giveth back. Hopefully hotter and more mature, of course. I’m already reserving my tears for when Yoo Seung Ho enlists early this year, but I take solace in knowing a bunch of actors in Taiwan and Korea are coming back soon so I can fill the void happily. Military service in Taiwan has gone from … Continue reading →
Joe Cheng is currently still in the army with a few months left to go, but he’s been in the spotlight still for various entertainment related reasons. The period Taiwanese movie Ripples of Desire, which he filmed prior to enlisting, just got released in Taiwan though Joe had a low key entrance to the movie premiere on crutches due to … Continue reading →
Okay, I take back a quarter of my disappointment with Miss Rose after seeing these official stills from this weekend’s final episode 23 of the drama. One thing TW-dramas do very well is give its viewers a definitive happy ending, especially for rom-coms which by definition of its genre does not require anything more than having two characters, whose journey … Continue reading →
Despite starting filming after the drama adaptation of Da Mo Yao (Ballad of the Desert), the other Tong Hua novel Secrets Hidden in Time will hit the small screen next month in early January 2013 as the drama Best Time starring Wallace Chung, Janine Chang, Jia Nai Liang, and Han Xi Ting. I’ve written my novel review earlier this year, … Continue reading →
Now that Miss Rose is confirmed to end the following Sunday, I’ve been expecting some news on its following up drama and SETTV does not disappoint. The drama did have a name change from Replacement Princess to a drama that doesn’t have an English title yet but the literal translation is Jin Da Hua’s Extravagant Adventure (金大花的華麗冒險). I’ll be looking … Continue reading →
Now this is an onscreen coupling that keeps working together but is rather low key about it. Word on the street is that Bolin Chen, coming off a career breakthrough performance in In Time With You co-starring Ariel Lin and has been doing movies since then, is about to return to idol dramas. He’s inked for a drama that will … Continue reading →
We’ve got the first peek at the leads in the Taiwan adaptation of You’re Beautiful starring Jiro Wang and newbie actress Su Li Wen. Above is Su Li Wen dressed like a nun-in-training and posing with Park Shin Hye, who cameos in the first scene at the church. Apparently she’s the one who is listening to music very loudly, heh. … Continue reading →
On the heels of wrapping filming for Miss Rose, Roy Qiu dropped a few more promotional events last week before setting off for Mainland China this week. He wasn’t joking about heading there next to do dramas and he’s already confirmed for one which starts filming in a few days. It’s a modern drama tentatively called Red Wine My Fair … Continue reading →
Oh what one breakout role in a breakout drama can do for an actor or actress, and this is especially true in Mainland China where the competition is fierce due to the sheer number of talented and gorgeous actors and actresses vying to shoot into superstardom. If 2011 started off with Yang Mi and Feng Shao Feng’s big break with … Continue reading →
I saw this one coming a mile away once Gong Hay Fat Choy‘s plotline took a sharp turn left midway through its run. After months of media speculation and gossip, former GHFC co-stars Alice Ke and Kun Da have pretty much confirmed they are dating. At last week’s SETTV end of the year drama awards, Kun Da was asked about … Continue reading →
It’s awards time everyone, and in a few weeks the major networks in Korea will hold their own drama awards and I’ll be checking it out for the fashion and the onscreen couplings while laughing at who actually “wins” an award. On the heels of SETTV holding their drama awards a few days ago, across the strait the TV Drama … Continue reading →
This is quite a treat for those TW-drama watchers who are hoping to see some big drama stars all gathered in one place. SETTV, still the leader this year in ratings among the five big channels (CTS, CTV, GTV, and FTV), held an end of the year party and award’s banquet for all the stars of its 2012 dramas. The … Continue reading →
