Both Han Ji Min and Yoochun had two dramas apiece this year, and both of them picked well in terms of doing something diverse and different. Han Ji Min started off the year with Padam Padam: The Sound of His and Her Heartbeat with Jung Woo Sung and afterwards rolled right into Rooftop Prince with Yoochun. He took a break … Continue reading →
While none of the cast members from Cheongdamdong Alice have rabid fans the way idol stars have that track down their drama filming schedules and always manage to provide spoilers, the fact that this drama films in popular Cheongdamdong means that it’s not hard to run into the cast there recently. Much like Mary Stayed Our All Night filmed in … Continue reading →
The three leads of Missing You attending a media day event on Monday to drum up more interest in their drama, which has a slight lead over its competition in The Great Seer and Jeon Woo Chi. There is no reason why MY shouldn’t be in double digits when going up against the sheer incompetence and terribleness of the two … Continue reading →
On the heels of wrapping filming for Miss Rose, Roy Qiu dropped a few more promotional events last week before setting off for Mainland China this week. He wasn’t joking about heading there next to do dramas and he’s already confirmed for one which starts filming in a few days. It’s a modern drama tentatively called Red Wine My Fair … Continue reading →
There was a time when watching K-dramas centered around waiting for the OTP to kiss. Yes, there was character set up, plot development, narrative progression, all of the good stuff that oftentimes in the eyes fans merely serve as fillers to propel to the OTP together. This was true especially of rom-coms, when the story was wafer thin and the … Continue reading →
I have to say a mea culpa for running my 2012 OTP poll too early. I said in that post that the only remaining drama OTP left in 2012 was Moon Geun Young and Park Shi Hoo in Cheongdamdong Alice, which hadn’t aired yet when I ran the poll. I doubted then that those two would have chemistry enough to … Continue reading →
I watched two new drama episodes today, and how unbelievably good episode 6 of Cheongdamdong Alice was, conversely that is how dreadful episode 21 of Miss Rose was. Don’t get me wrong, I still love MR because of all that goodwill and stakes built up, but to preserve that affection I have to FF scenes and turn my brain off. … Continue reading →
Oh what one breakout role in a breakout drama can do for an actor or actress, and this is especially true in Mainland China where the competition is fierce due to the sheer number of talented and gorgeous actors and actresses vying to shoot into superstardom. If 2011 started off with Yang Mi and Feng Shao Feng’s big break with … Continue reading →
Happiness for me is as simple as a hug or a new episode of Cheongdamdong Alice. It’s in the here and now, and the appreciation of the little things however ephemeral or mundane like a fictional drama. I don’t think CA tackles the age old problems of wealth disparity with realism, but it tries to not define the choices people … Continue reading →
This drama hurts so good. It’s like eating a dessert so delicious that it almost brings tears to your eyes. Ratings for this episode took another huge 3% jump forward in both AGB and TNS, leaving me hoping that it has a chance to hit 20 by the time it finishes, just to give the cast and crew a deserved … Continue reading →
I saw this one coming a mile away once Gong Hay Fat Choy‘s plotline took a sharp turn left midway through its run. After months of media speculation and gossip, former GHFC co-stars Alice Ke and Kun Da have pretty much confirmed they are dating. At last week’s SETTV end of the year drama awards, Kun Da was asked about … Continue reading →
I’m glad that Yoo Seung Ho got to play a romantic leading man in a more romcom-ish setting before taking on this darker role of Kang Hyung Joon in Missing You. I mentioned the male lead in MY coming off as bipolar with his mood swings and competency fluctuations, but Yoo Seung Ho’s character is written even more bipolar. It’s … Continue reading →
It’s awards time everyone, and in a few weeks the major networks in Korea will hold their own drama awards and I’ll be checking it out for the fashion and the onscreen couplings while laughing at who actually “wins” an award. On the heels of SETTV holding their drama awards a few days ago, across the strait the TV Drama … Continue reading →
