This is one of those casting reports I hope becomes true later on even if it’s still up in the air right now. K-ent is reporting that Lee Seung Gi is going straight from filming tvN fantasy drama Hwayugi into filming another drama airing later this year called Vagabond (or Drifter). After news broke Lee Seung Gi’s agency confirmed that … Continue reading →
There’s no end to bad news around K-dramas recently and another one has run into a roadblock of sorts. Upcoming OCN police thriller Children of a Lesser God will delay it’s premiere one week until March 3th due to supporting actor Jo Min Ki leaving the cast having filmed his scenes already. It’s the right decision on his part as … Continue reading →
I’m ridiculously enamored of Kim Ji Won‘s green dress in this recent Cine21 pictorial shot in connection with promotions for the Joseon movie Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead. She’s the female lead in this supernatural-tinged detective movie opposite Kim Myung Min and Oh Dal Soo and it’s a great role for this talented and rising fast young actress … Continue reading →
A person can’t expect to be a winner in all aspects of life and if Ha Ga In‘s weakness is in her vocation of acting then I think she’s still ending up with the long end of the stick. In South Korea the money is really made in CFs and hers is a long and successfully career in that regard. … Continue reading →
The first movie stills are out for upcoming Korean period zombie film Outbreak (Rage) starring Hyun Bin and Jang Dong Gun. What was already primed to be a box office hit even had a third leading man in Kim Joo Hyuk in a cameo role but alas this film would be the final film in Kim Joo Hyuk’s to-do list … Continue reading →
The first stills are out for the next MBC Wed-Thurs drama Let’s Hold Hands Tightly and Watch the Sunset, with the network having taken a good month hiatus after I am Not a Robot ended to air the Winter Olympics and also get its shit together after too much scrambled airings and rushed filming. Sunset premieres on March 14th and … Continue reading →
Recently I wrote about the impending K-drama adaption of the webtoon with the literal title of Legend of the Chicken Dragon Fairy and now casting has begun. Offers are out to Kang Sora and Yoon Hyun Min for the leads of Gyeryong Goddess (tentative title) with the drama being picked up on tvN. I sure hope this fantasy fairy drama … Continue reading →
When I heard of this upcoming K-drama I almost keeled over from laughing too hard. I can’t even K-ent is still trying to do a tense big-budget politics and war themed drama after failing so many times prior. IRIS is probably the pinnacle of execution and a tight story line but then it had plenty of flaws, not to mention … Continue reading →
This may really be the epic height of wooden acting heretofore never seen in K-dramas and if it’s going to happen then I’m all in to watch it unfold. Actress-singer Suzy has been busy promoting her solo music comeback from January until now and is reportedly winding down her music activities. The latest industry chatter is that Suzy has accepted … Continue reading →
Congrats to cable network jTBC for having the first big K-drama hit of 2018. It’s Fri-Sat night drama Misty went from a solid premiere episode rating of 3.473% all the way up to episode 6 bringing in 7.081%. Last year’s two biggest cable dramas were on jTBC with Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and then even higher with Women of … Continue reading →
The hammer has dropped for me with this weekend’s episodes of Hwayugi. I wanted so badly to love this drama but it’s gone down the exact same trajectory as While You Were Sleeping. First episode love slowly seeping away due to a meandering narrative and a lack of growing depth in writing the main characters with the side characters the … Continue reading →
I have a soft spot for Meteor Garden not because I love the Hana Yori Dango story all that much, it’s entertaining enough but the original Taiwan adaptation spawned the idol drama craze that gave us a decade of great TW-dramas. It’s also been the source material for many dramas to launch new faces thanks to the story line being … Continue reading →
I had to do my math a few times to confirm that it’s been 22 years (22!!!) since the career making J-dorama Long Vacation that launched into J-dorama leading man super stardom Kimura Takuya. It’s not his highest rated J-dorama but it was definitely the one that put him on the map and made him a heartthrob throughout Asia for … Continue reading →
