The second batch of teasers are here for upcoming tvN fantasy drama Hwayugi and it ups the ante in visuals and excitement. We see leads Lee Seung Gi, Oh Yeon Seo, and Cha Seung Won once again narrate their characters but this time with more imagery context. Lee Seung Gi is the Monkey King who can create fire in his … Continue reading →
I don’t recall ever seeing different gender stars wear the exact same outfit at a fashion event, and the first it happens both look great! It must be their star power, that of Shin Mina and Ha Jung Woo attending the Cartier winter launch in Seoul and wearing identical all black outfit underneath the same camel color coat with slight … Continue reading →
Now that a whirlwind year in dating, marriage, and baby news in K-ent is winding down, I wanted to check in on another big name couple that has had little to no updates all year other than tabloid fodder. Earlier in 2017 there was gossip that cross-border dating couple Song Seung Heon and Crystal Liu had broken up after two … Continue reading →
I was a teeny bit apprehensive about the inspiration of upcoming K-drama Hwayugi taking from the classic Chinese novel of The Journey to the West, so famous and integral to Chinese cultural and now being adapted to a Korean setup. But with the casting of Lee Seung Gi as the male lead playing the Monkey King character, and moving the … Continue reading →
Since I don’t follow K-pop the interest in the pan-Asian Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) is solely on the attendee star power of many K-stars. The Hong Kong show last night was a total win for me on the actors and actresses who attended and their fashion choices. EVERYONE LOOKED GREAT! Yes, there was the usual black, white/neutral, and red … Continue reading →
A successful drama run these days is rarer than ever especially in the romantic comedy genre where it’s basically a unicorn. Just wrapped tvN Mon-Tues romance drama This Life is Our First (Because This is Our First Life), with less comedy than expected but still chuckles aplenty, held a much deserved cast drama wrap party this week as the final … Continue reading →
It’s pretty fun to see a pictorial from a few months ago suddenly align in perfect synergy with the latest big casting news. C-actress Crystal Liu‘s casting in the live-action Disney movie Mulan had made the news all around the world in a way that her star power in China for the last decade and a half has been limited … Continue reading →
The votes are in and this is a huge polling size and spans decades to get a good sense of what Japanese find most beautiful among their actresses. With over 50,000 votes, J-actress Kitagawa Keiko tops the list of most beautiful face actresses in Japan, followed by 1960’s top actress Yoshinaga Sayuri, with one of the youngest stars on this list … Continue reading →
Beautiful and utterly befuddling remains my pre-airing verdict for upcoming KBS Wed-Thurs drama Black Knight, airing next week now that Mad Dog has wrapped up. The visuals are out of this world, doing what K-dramas do best in packaging the leads, locales, and outfits into envious bundles of gorgeousness. But the drama narrative from what has been revealed also does … Continue reading →
I’m so not ready for the 80’s to come back from a fashion standpoint, unless it’s in the context of nostalgia TV shows like Stranger Things. So when I see an oversized red leather coat on C-actress Liu Shi Shi at at recent fashion event for couture brand Tod’s, I’ll blame the brand for making the outfit since she’s clearly … Continue reading →
Now this is what I call a legit huge casting news – after months of casting calls and a worldwide search, Disney has cast C-actress Crystal Liu (Liu Yi Fei) in the titular role of Mulan for the upcoming live-action remake. The Disney live-action remakes of it’s own animated movies have been blockbusters for the company, with Jungle Book, Cinderella, … Continue reading →
Some weeks feel longer than others and same goes for the wait for upcoming K-dramas. MBC‘s next Wed-Thurs drama I am Not a Robot has been incubation for much longer than usual, four extra weeks to be precise after Hospital Ship ended but the network was still mired in a labor strike. Sadly today doesn’t end the drought as viewers … Continue reading →
Magazine fashion pictorials are almost always taking a famous person and just posing them with the occasional location shoot throwing in famous backdrops. Bazaar China just dropped a jaw-dropping photoshoot with C-actress Zhang Tian Ai that counts are the exception to the norm, delivering a uniquely styled shoot transforming her into a modern take on the Tang Dynasty beauty. Zhang … Continue reading →
