I don’t recall a drearier event than last weekend’s 2017 Elle Korea Awards to celebrate K-star fashions. The pitch black logo screen is one of the culprits and then things got worse when most of the stars wore black or grey and then some looked rather grumpy or dour. The shining light of color was Kim Ji Won with a … Continue reading →
The Korean celebrity wedding of the year in 2017 was undoubtedly the nuptials of Song Hye Kyo to Song Joong Ki, an event attended by many of their friends who also happen to be big stars in their own right. A pair of such friends went above and beyond as a guest and collaborated to perform a love song piano … Continue reading →
The first batch of lead stills are out for upcoming KBS drama Jugglers, probably one of the lower profile prime time dramas but with the network currently leading the Mon-Tues time slot with the surprise success of Witch’s Court then it’s setting up this drama for a good chance to succeed as well. Starring Daniel Choi and Baek Jin Hee, … Continue reading →
The first stills are out of the fated meeting between a rich guy with an allergy to other humans and the girl who will win his heart by pretending to be a robot. Upcoming K-drama I am Not a Robot is the stuff of shoujo manga synopsis pitches and funnily enough isn’t adapted from one. If it was then the … Continue reading →
Breaking news in the K-drama casting world and it’s a big one to make waves even without a confirmation yet from the agency. Reports are circulating that singer-actress IU has been cast as the female lead for the high profile 2018 tvN K-drama My Ahjusshi. The drama got coverage earlier this year due to the combination of the Signal PD … Continue reading →
The new Taiwanese version of Hana Yori Dango has finalized casting of all the leads with the selection of fresh-faced young rookie C-actress Shen Yue as the female lead. Meteor Garden 2018 comes 17 years after the original Meteor Garden was a huge hit and spawned the careers of Barbie Hsu, Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Zhu, and Vanness Wu. … Continue reading →
I love beautiful things so when beautiful people were equally beautiful clothes and shot in a beautiful backdrop I can’t help but just sigh over the beauty of the visuals. After overloading on the use of a particular adjective, which only goes so far as K-dramas need more than just prettah to sustain 16-hours or more of narrative substance, the … Continue reading →
It’s amusing in a sad way to think that some fans of popular stars get upset when the star gets married or it actually affects the way they feel about said star. Marriage before and after is merely a wedding day and then figuring out how to cohabit and compromise with another human being. But it doesn’t change the fundamentals … Continue reading →
If Song Seung Heon can rock my world in his current performance of two different characters in OCN drama Black, I have even higher hopes for Jo Jung Seok to do his version for MBC drama Two Cops. Not to mention Jo Jung Seok looks soooooo smexy as the rough and tumble police detective, this look brings out his best looks … Continue reading →
Casting is confirmed and unveiled in a splashy way with a Bazaar Taiwan photospread for the four male leads of the upcoming Taiwanese drama new adaptation of Boys Before Flowers (Hana Yori Dango). Famed Taiwan idol drama producer Angie Cai is re-doing her own hit Meteor Garden which launched last decade’s TW-drama idol heyday, with Meteor Garden 2018 her big … Continue reading →
I can get so excited about fashion and dissecting it deeper beyond whether it looks good or not. That’s the intrigue about K-actress Song Hye Kyo‘s polarizing wedding gown worn last week during her star-studded wedding to now husband Song Joong Ki. It was quickly revealed to be a Christian Dior creation and the reviews were mixed, some loving the … Continue reading →
I’m ready for MBC new weekend drama Money Flower to dump a load of intensity and makjang on the time slot, and maybe with it do better in ratings that currently airing Bad Thief, Good Thief. The only drawback is a sense of deja vu with lead Jang Hyuk cast in this drama because it comes across as a redux … Continue reading →
I’m ready to put K-drama screenwriter Ha Myung Hee on my shit list now, I’ve concurred with a lot of the criticism lobbed at her for her previous dramas Doctors, High Society and even her earliest works One Warm Word and Can We Get Married. But being flawed doesn’t mean she’s completely sucky but now her attitude makes me think of … Continue reading →
