Now that the casting decisions for upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama The Village has been digested after some time, it’s more constructive to move on to evaluating the promos and teasers trickling out from the network. Yongpal has been confirmed for a 2-episode extension to end at 18 episodes total, giving The Village another week to prep which is never a … Continue reading →
s I’m taking this rumored upcoming Chinese-Korean collaboration drama with a grain of salt, but more on the casting than on the drama actually happening. Word on the street is that Chinese A-list actor Huang Xiaoming, who is getting ready for his upcoming big-budget wedding to fellow C-actress Angelababy (Yang Ying), is pretty a spin-off drama to his recent period … Continue reading →
I mentioned checking out the manga 5-ji Kara 9-ji Made (From Five to Nine) a few months ago during a manga marathon phase (I get that itch at least once a year) and not feeling it after a few chapters. I didn’t hate it but moved on to other more interesting fare, and in the process never even realized the manga … Continue reading →
This production really is happening, not that I thought it would die in the water but to see it coming together piece by piece is pretty exciting for a fan of the original source material. The K-drama adaptation of popular Chinese time-traveling period romance novel Bu Bu Jing Xin (Startling with Each Step) has added to the first bits of … Continue reading →
The upcoming Mon-Tues time slot is going to be up for grabs in a few weeks, once Mrs. Cop wraps up on SBS and doddering Splendid Politics (Hwajung) finally shuffles off after it 100 50 episode run on MBC. There’s also Eccentric Daughter-in-law ending on KBS, but that one never made any headway and its successor the cheerleading high school drama … Continue reading →
This is such an unexpected treat, one wonders who new daddy Ji Sung found time to pull off filming a short film in the time between Kill Me Heal Me and the start of changing diapers. I’m teasing, of course, becoming a parent doesn’t mean the end of all time spent outside parent duties. Plus Ji Sung has remained relatively … Continue reading →
I wasn’t terribly interested in last month’s film casting news that Lee Seung Gi and Shim Eun Kyung were going to headline a movie together, but the latest additions to the casting have me sitting up and 100% invested. Filming has started for upcoming sageuk romance Marital Harmony (Compatibility) and the synopsis is basically Shim Eun Kyung in a historical reverse … Continue reading →
I caution anyone not in a supremely peppy mood from watching the first teaser for upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Sassy Go Go. It’s like a jolt of energy and cheer right to the noggin, and frankly left me a bit dizzy from too much high school pep shooting off the screen. At least it’s a confirmation that the drama is … Continue reading →
Accessories brand Hazzy’s has a good thing going with young spokescouple Yook Sung Jae and Kim So Hyun, but even better is the upside in their entertainment careers and how cute they will be together after growing up even more in the next few years. This pairing has the visual legs to keep going, and I for one wouldn’t have … Continue reading →
It’s basically 50/50 right now on whether upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama She Was Pretty will work for me. I gave its predecessor Scholar Who Walks the Night so much leeway and lowered my expectations significantly, and that still wasn’t enough to keep me interest from flagging midway. SWP does have smaller shoes to fill by coming in as a light … Continue reading →
Looks like Gong Yoo still isn’t coming back to K-dramas anytime soon, what with him confirming his casting in another K-movie that is set to start filming next month in October. The main cast is secured for famed Korean director Kim Jee Woon‘s upcoming big-budget period movie Secret Agent. Kim Jee Woon is in many ways even more famous that the … Continue reading →
Now this is what I’m talking about when I ask for an intense drama to live up to it’s visual awareness. More often than not drama productions produce posters that are merely serviceable and do nothing in service of selling an experience that viewers will want to check out. A good drama poster can be such a powerful took in and … Continue reading →
I still remember when Beanpole was repped by the young spokescouple of Kim Soo Hyun and Suzy right after their Dream High days. I loved those ad campaigns so much, and the two young cuties have gone to stratospheric heights since then in their respective entertainment careers. Now Kim Soo Hyun has long moved beyond Beanpole in his vast endorsement … Continue reading →
