Now this is what I’m talking about when I ask for an intense drama to live up to it’s visual awareness. More often than not drama productions produce posters that are merely serviceable and do nothing in service of selling an experience that viewers will want to check out. A good drama poster can be such a powerful took in and … Continue reading →
I still remember when Beanpole was repped by the young spokescouple of Kim Soo Hyun and Suzy right after their Dream High days. I loved those ad campaigns so much, and the two young cuties have gone to stratospheric heights since then in their respective entertainment careers. Now Kim Soo Hyun has long moved beyond Beanpole in his vast endorsement … Continue reading →
It’s rare to see so many of K-actors I like at the same fashion event so this one is totally worth covering. Jang Geun Seok, Sung Joon, and Lee Jong Seok all attended the L’inoui show this weekend, armed with style and a man bag in hand. I have no idea what the brand is trying to say with the … Continue reading →
China seems to be on a trend of adapting a hit novel into both a drama and movie, but then does so in a way that doesn’t continue the trend of why the first adaptation was popular to begin with. After weeks of speculation on the casting of upcoming movie version of Grave Robbers Journal (Dao Mu Bi Ji and referred … Continue reading →
Recent hit variety shows like Grandpas Over Flowers and Three Meals a Day have made Na PD even more of an household name, but the credit for those addicting shows isn’t just in his deft directing but also in landing the perfect unexpected participant in Lee Seo Jin. I still can’t wrap my mind around Lee Seo Jin, the stalwart … Continue reading →
KBS has assembled a real solid cast for upcoming Mon-Tues drama Sassy Go Go (formerly called Cheer Up). It might not deal with as heavy topics as MBC did with its school drama this year Angry Mom, and will hopefully crib the good parts of Who Are You: School 2015 without taking along the draggy aspects. The first stills are … Continue reading →
Looks like Chinese movies are getting in on the alien adventure yarns as upcoming big budget blockbuster Chronicles of the Ghostly Tribe (鬼吹灯之九层妖塔 Ghost Blowing Lamp The Nine Story Demon Tower) gets a September 30th premiere date just in time for the Chinese national holiday vacation stretch. Starring Mark Chao, Yao Chen, Rhydian Vaugan, Li Chen, and Tang Yan, the movie combines … Continue reading →
The epic turd that is the latest C-drama remake of wuxia novel Return of the Condor Heroes recently made the headlines again when the leads were revealed to have found love with each other in real life. In the Yu Zheng version called Romance of the Condor Heroes, Chen Xiao played male lead Guo Jing while Michelle Chen is still … Continue reading →
At first glance, I thought a newspaper had just spliced an old picture of Kim Sae Ron in Hi! School: Love On next to a still of Nam Joo Hyuk from Who Are You: School 2015, that’s how much each looks like a character from their previous dramas. A closer look reveals them to be wearing the same school uniform, … Continue reading →
The Seoul International Drama Awards just went down and I’ll write about it when I have more time to scoop up all the pictures of the many pretties who attended. This post is solely about Ariel Lin‘s visit to Korea this week to attend the Seoul Drama Awards, and along with it her adorable fangirly moments prior to the awards … Continue reading →
I’m already feeling bad for Hwang Jung Eum and the drama She Was Pretty hasn’t even aired yet. I know her (relatively) uglified look is solely for this particular character, but does she have to be so hapless and always staring up at men? In two new sets of drama stills, both featuring Hwang Jung Eum front and center, she’s … Continue reading →
On the even of the Seoul Drama Awards, another Korean awards show has released its nominees list for 2015 dramas and the result is a decidedly mixed bag. While I agree with the nominations for Heard it Through the Grapevine and the male leads, the inclusion of Yongpal in various categories boggles the mind since it’s only halfway through airing … Continue reading →
SBS continues with its trend of running concept promos for dramas and the first one is out for upcoming Wed-Thurs mystery thriller The Village: Achiara’s Secret. I’ll probably be calling it just The Village since it sounds way creepier without the Achiara’s Secret, which by the way achiara is supposedly an old Korean description for a lotus pond. The concept … Continue reading →
