The movie adaption of the C-novel Bu Bu Jing Xin will hit the big screens this summer but hasn’t really picked up promotional steam yet. It’s been four years since the C-drama version became a hit and invigorated the careers of Nicky Wu, Liu Shi Shi, and Kevin Cheng, while also launching the careers of Yuan Hong, Lin Geng Xin, … Continue reading →
Marriage isn’t slowing down Ariel Lin in the least, she already announced that she wasn’t quitting the entertainment industry after becoming a wife but it was surprising to learn that she had been filming starting last December when she was in the midst of tying the knot. The upcoming Korean-Taiwan-Chinese co-production movie called Mysterious Family stars Taiwanese actress Ariel with … Continue reading →
Forget star power, which is already bling bling blinding in the collective intensity, the joint awards power of these three together is also something to marvel at. The rumored casting news leaked a few weeks ago but I didn’t to jinx it by writing about it too early, I’ve been waiting close to ten years for these two to work together … Continue reading →
Looks like cross-border collaborations are increasing in other ways beyond China-Korea. The Chinese summer box office will include a wacky road trip movie helmed by a Hollywood production team but starring three top Chinese stars as leads. Marking the first time real life best friends of 20 years Zhao Wei and Huang Xiaoming worked together onscreen, the two are joined … Continue reading →
It’s nearly premiere time for romance C-movie The Beloved (Chinese title 重生爱人 means Reborn Lover). Starring C-actress Wang Li Kun, K-actor Kim Bum, and TW-actor Joe Cheng, this movie collected main leads with different ethnicity while sharing the same incredible good looks. The movie premieres on May 15th but the cast descended on last week’s BJIFF (Beijing International Film Festival) to … Continue reading →
Excitement continues to mount for the upcoming two-fer Attack on Titan live-action movies. Consider me a convert with the just released second movie trailer, this was one story with such dense mythology and special effects needed I actually thought it was impossible for Japan to pull off a live-action adaptation. Not only has Japan managed to pull it off, it … Continue reading →
I’m always impressed with how fast China can slap something together when it gets working on it. Case in point the movie version of You Are My Sunshine, which started filming in February and will be hitting the big screens on May 1st a mere three months later. It likely helped that the story is a romance with no special … Continue reading →
It’s nice of these potential movie casting news to drop on the same week so I can bundle it into one post. I’ve noticed fans of one or both actors tend to bring their names up in each other’s posts so this ought to make things easier. First up is Kim Soo Hyun, recently named honorary ambassador for Incheon airport, … Continue reading →
There’s a new manga to live-action movie adaptation that hit the big screens in Japan this month. Starring Fukushi Sota and Arimura Kasuma as high school students in a sweet shoujo romance setting, Strobe Edge is the second popular manga by writer Sakisaka Io to get the big screen treatment after Blue Spring Ride (Ao Spring Ride) was turned into a movie … Continue reading →
I thought I would have to warn y’all to put on your big boy pants before watching this, but sadly the first teaser preview for the highly anticipated Attack on Titan live-action movie is mostly underwhelming. The reason can be laid 100% on the choice to go low energy for the much too short tease, at 30 seconds it needed … Continue reading →
I had one of the most “did I just read that right?” double take reactions to the latest casting news, a combination of totally unexpected mixed with serendipitous coincidence that these two particular names would be linked together. The casting world hasn’t stopped buzzing about Ha Ji Won being offered the leading lady role in the K-remake of In Time … Continue reading →
Who else gets the feeling that filming the upcoming boys coming-of-age movie Twenty was like going on an extended retreat for leads Kim Woo Bin, Kang Ha Neul, and Junho? Sure they were required to act, but the movie looks like such a riot and their performances have this limber relaxed vibe like they were halfway being themselves in showcasing … Continue reading →
Big star cameos in dramas and movies happen regularly, with the practice of either touting it beforehand or letting the audience be pleasantly surprised when watching the final cut. I’m fine with way, and in the case of finished filming sageuk movie Sado, the production has elected to reveal that leading man So Ji Sub will be doing a critical … Continue reading →
