Neither Kim So Yeon nor Joo Jin Mo have been on the small screen in quite some time, and I’d rather both stick with movies and eschew dramas unless the right script comes along. I’m still shuddering from the mess that was Dream. Both are currently filming the period movie Russian Coffee (also known as Kapi, which is the Korean pronunciation for Coffee). The … Continue reading →
We’re a few weeks ago from the premiere of one of the potential C-movie blockbusters of Summer, My Kingdom starring Han Geng, Wu Zun, and Barbie Hsu. The goodies keep dropping, and I’m more and more excited to watch this movie. Han Geng, whom many folks know from his being in Super Junior for a few years, recorded the theme … Continue reading →
The upcoming big-budget Korean movie Thieves, helmed by director Choi Dong-hoon (Tazza, The Big Swindle, and Jeon Woo Chi), has started filming this month. The entire cast is in Hong Kong for a primary location shoot, as the big heist in the center of this drama will be at a Macau casino. Oooh, I love Hong Kong and Macau, where I … Continue reading →
The upcoming 3D blockbuster-budget Korean monster movie Section 7 is gearing up for its premiere on August 4th. The movie stars A-list actress Ha Ji Won in a Sigourney Weaver in Aliens-esque role, while the men folks just tag along for the ride. Heh, I love kick-ass lady warriors. The entire cast, including Oh Ji Ho and Ahn Sung Ki, have … Continue reading →
I feel like Yoo Seung Ho has such a similar career trajectory as Jang Geun Seok it’s astounding, minus the seven year age difference between them. Especially now that both guys have starred with Kim Ha Neul in a movie. Both are child actors revered for being pretty much the best of their group, and both tend to play older … Continue reading →
After the blockbuster success of Painted Skin in 2008 (starring Chen Kun, Zhou Xun, Zhao Wei, Donny Yen, and Sun Li) the director is once again digging into the classic book of Chinese supernatural folktales from whence the Painted Skin story originated. His follow-up movie will premiere at the end of September 2011 – it is called Painted Wall (English title Mural), … Continue reading →
The cast of the upcoming K-movie You’re My Pet had a brief overseas shoot in Japan last month and now the filming moves back to Korea. The movie held an open shoot day for the media that coincided with a rain-required shoot for when Kim Ha Neul’s character first meets Jang Geun Seok’s character. Via a box. He’s a pet, … Continue reading →
Looks like Taiwan newest bromance is here to stay. Ethan Ruan and Mark Chao are reuniting with their Monga director Doze Niu for his upcoming movie LOVE. After smashing the TW-box office last Summer with Monga, which also netted Ethan a Best Actor trophy at the Golden Horse Awards, Ethan has been waiting to film The Flying Guillotine with Huang … Continue reading →
Latest news from Weibo states that casting of the Yang’s brothers have been finalized. I posted here about the actors playing one of the seven brothers in the upcoming epic HK/C movie Saving General Yang (一门忠烈之杨家将), but it hadn’t yet been finalized which actor played which brother (with the exception of Wu Zun getting Liu Lang Sixth brother, and Louis Koo getting Da … Continue reading →
Vic Zhou (Zai Zai) just wrapped filming on the movie Cohabitating with Fashion with Vivian Hsu in Beijing two weeks ago. He flew back to Taiwan and immediately started filming the upcoming Director Zhu Yen Ping’s remake of one of the most iconic TW-movies of all time Destiny’s Pair. The movie will be the first collaboration between Zai Zai and Ella … Continue reading →
While I’ve loved Ai Yazawa since her early work Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai, I did NOT like Nana. Yes yes, how could I not like her award-winning work. It just didn’t resonate with me. So I was reluctant to read Paradise Kiss, until suddenly it was about to become a live-action movie starring Kitagawa Keiko (who I have a super … Continue reading →
Kang Ji Hwan, one of the few K-stars I have made a valient effort to be a completist of his works because I adore him so much, is currently burning up the small screen with Yoon Eun Hye in Lie to Me. The drama doesn’t wrap until the end of June, but Ji Hwan has already lined up his next … Continue reading →

Just a week after the movie held it’s press conference, director Gao Xiao Sheng found himself on the other side of the law after being arrested for drunk driving, and he was immediately … Continue reading →
