I can totally understand why C-dramas already filmed would want to just air as soon as possible these days, so many random and impacting airing requirements come down willy nilly not to mention the risk of someone in the cast suddenly doing something offensive or cancelable and it’s a no brainer to just air and get your money back. Supernatural … Continue reading →
So with the summer coming to a close it appears iQiyi wants to squeeze in one more high profile C-drama and it’s reportedly going to be My Journey to You (The Wing of Clouds) with Zhang Ling He and Yu Shu Xin (Esther Yu). I’m first loling that Zhang Ling He will see this drama air before his Story of … Continue reading →
With Lost You Forever Part 1 ending its 39-episode run this week, it’s time for the gradual decompression as a fan who loved the drama adaptation to take account of the good and the bad. That post will come but this one is solely about a standard public matrix of C-drama viewer judgment. The Douban ratings are out and LYF … Continue reading →
Hold your horses peeps because it’s time to binge your brains out, as the final 9-episodes to mark the conclusion of Lost You Forever Part 1 just dropped by Tencent. This was a surprise announced on Monday morning before the episodes dropped that evening so fans were in for a real treat to be able to finish Part 1 in … Continue reading →
Filming remains underway for detective mystery C-drama Guardians of the Dafeng based on the novel of the same name which is high on the buzz radar thanks to male lead Dylan Wang. He’s been on a hot streak since last summer’s surprise hit Love Between Fairy and Devil and Dafeng is his first period drama since with in between he … Continue reading →
I can’t believe it’s already week three in Lost You Forever drama airing, the time has flown by with the only slowdown when there is a break in new episode drops. Thankfully Tencent hasn’t done the 3 days drop 4 days break schedule and instead swapped it which means this Thursday got us all the way to episode 30. It’s … Continue reading →
So while iQiyi‘s just dropped super duper xianxia C-drama Love You Seven Times is so not my cup of tea, I’m actually intrigued about Tencent‘s next traditional period C-drama The Legend of Zhuohua which has just been scheduled for August 19th. Starring Jing Tian and Feng Shao Feng, this drama isn’t as buzzy and visually and narratively looks like Destined … Continue reading →
So I thought with a two week break without a new period C-drama drop this summer of 2023 the premiere train stopped but today iQiyi doesn’t mind being late to the party as it premiered Love You Seven Times. Starring Ding Yu Xi and Yang Chao Yue, this is one lead pairing that has a negative appeal to me but … Continue reading →
So there have been nonstop male lead casting rumors for Pearl Curtain Jade Curtain that the C-drama may break record for the sheet number of actors potentially cast as the male lead. It’s a hot project with female lead Zhao Lu Si signed on after she has three popular idol dramas in a row with Who Rules the World, Love … Continue reading →
So Lost You Forever male lead Tan Jian Ci is a regular cast member of variety show Hello Saturday so it’s only fitting that last month in mid July the drama cast went on to promote their show alongside. Also Dylan Wang is a regular cast member and seeing him with Yang Zi makes me think C-ent is overdue for … Continue reading →
Reading Once Promised (Ceng Shu Nuo) and its direct sequel Lost You Forever (Chang Xiang Si) is like two flip sides of the same coin. There are so many parallels but the ends and choices are almost diametrically opposite. It goes to show that what happens to form a person’s life, personality, and background ultimately influences how choices in the … Continue reading →
I remember building a boat in AP Physics to get across the high school pool was the highlight of the year. Sure it was ramshackle but if it got across the pond completely it was a win. Period C-drama Legend of Anle was a boat that kept taking on water and disintegrated probably 2/3 into the paddling but the two … Continue reading →
I explained clearly in my book translations that the story of Lost You Forever is Xiao Yao’s story and the male lead of her story is Cang Xuan/Zhuan Xu, her older brother cousin. The growth and evolution of his path to ruling the entire world mirrors Xiao Yao’s return and her trials and tribulations, so the male lead designation is … Continue reading →
