This is too good not to just come flat out and share – the word “kiss” appears in the written preview for episode 10 of Prime Minister and I. IÂ was flailing like a fish out of water by that alone but the context makes it even better. This is going to be a looooong week waiting for the next episode … Continue reading →
Having joined the cast of the soon to air KBS drama Age of Feeling (Inspiring Generation) late, it’s no wonder Kim Jae Wook hasn’t been in many promotional materials for the drama other than looking like he was poorly photo shopped into the full cast poster. Originally Lee Sun Ho (Tamra the Island, Mary Stayed Out All Night) was supposed … Continue reading →
Casting is pretty much a done deal for the upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama following Miss Korea and it’s going to be Lee Min Jung and Joo Sang Wook for the rom-com Cunning Single Lady. This drama is being produced by Fantagio Entertainment and will be MBC’s first prime time rom-com in years. In 2013 the network had nary a rom-com … Continue reading →
By all that is holy in dramaland I freaking love love LOVE this drama! Prime Minister and I ended this week on a rousing high note for episode 9 which was every bit as funny, touching, nerve-wracking, and totally satisfying as every episode before it all wrapped into one delicious treat. Why oh why is this drama only two episodes … Continue reading →
My smiling face this morning was seriously beaming rays of joy after watching two fantastic new episodes of competing Mon-Tues K-dramas Empress Ki and Prime Minister and I (recap coming!), plus I’m finally over the most hellacious cold and jet lag combo ever. It’s like the clouds have parted and I can hear the birds singing. This week’s two episodes … Continue reading →
In a low-key and unsurprising development, Mike He celebrated his birthday recently and revealed that he’s been exempt from Taiwan’s mandatory military service, making him the last of the group of male idol stars including Joe Cheng, Ethan Ruan, and Ming Dao who delayed their service until the very end of the age limit. While the other three all served … Continue reading →
Episode 19 of Empress Ki was interesting. I’m not sure what to think other than one ship appears to have sunk rather precipitously, though I never could understand how it was even sailing in the first place. The return of Seung Nyang to her Goryeo countrymen also brought back the freedom for her to speak her mind and boy did … Continue reading →
Cha Seung Won was reportedly offered the co-starring role with Han Suk Kyu for the upcoming MBC mega-sageuk called Unprecedented which was to follow after Empress Ki. But this past week has seen major scheduling ripples within MBC suggesting Unprecedented may get pushed back to accommodate Han Suk Kyu’s movie schedule so MBC is scrambling to find something else to … Continue reading →
It’s nice to welcome the new year of 2014 with the first K-drama recap of a great episode of the still wonderful Prime Minister and I. This drama continues to thrum along with all the right beats even if all the narrative milestones are nothing new to behold. A good drama has to have multiple layers so that the conflict isn’t … Continue reading →
It’s been two weeks since there was a new episode of Empress Ki and I’m interested to see if the drama returns from its hiatus with renewed vigor and a jump start on what had became a rather plodding love triangle plus palace intrigue combo. I thought if the drama ratings increased steadily it would have past 30 by now … Continue reading →
It’s a testament to how into the drama I am that when I see Yoon Si Yoon hugging Yoona in the latest stills for Prime Minister and I, I started screaming “get your hands off her, you jackass!” before realizing I was yelling at my baby Si Yoon. His character Kang In Ho is turning into an easy target to … Continue reading →
I find myself heaving a sigh of relief that the red hot success of In A Good Way hasn’t affected both its casting chemistry or its story narrative. What’s happened so far with all the characters comes across as planned in advance rather than any wonky rewriting on the fly going on. This past weekend the cast gathered with over … Continue reading →
I thought IRIS 2 was one of the biggest busts of the 2013 year considering its massive cast and astronomical budget. KBS pretty much took a wash on it and in the process wasted some of my favorite leading men in Jang Hyuk and Lee Bum Soo in yet another stinker. KBS has more than made up for it with … Continue reading →
