Well the interest is definitely there for the upcoming C-drama adaptation of Tong Hua xianxia romance novel Lost You Forever. Unlike the C-drama version of the prequel Once Promised which was soooooo bad and thankfully no one watched it, this one is high profile thanks to Yang Zi as the female lead and a bevy of fast rising male leads … Continue reading →
Okay, this one I can totally chime in on! Today there is a K-news story around viewer complaints on MBC weekend drama Gold Spoon which is actually ending this week. It started off better than expected but then proceeded to tread water with a combination of swap lives/rinse-and-repeat as well as like a bajillion gold spoons all around with multiple … Continue reading →
With less than two months left in 2022 the dramas that are starting filming now will be arriving in 2023 and one of them is the jTBC romance drama Understanding of Love. Starring Yoo Yeon Seok, Moon Ga Young, Geum Sae Rok, and Jung Ga Ram, the average height of this leading cast guys and gals combined is insane haha. … Continue reading →
After the delayed surprise that was my watching Find Me in Your Memory a good two years late, I decided no more passing up on Kim Dong Wook romance dramas even if the premise doesn’t sound all that interesting off the bat. Sadly You are My Spring was meh but at least I tried to power through it, but his … Continue reading →
So I’m 10-episodes into newly arrived youth romance C-drama Lighter and Princess adapted from a popular web novel and it’s as good a time to do a first impression now that the initial Douban ratings are out. It’s got a 7.2 ratings and that feels about right to me, 10-episodes in I like the drama but don’t (yet) love it. … Continue reading →
It will be a new challenge for K-actress Kim Yoo Jung in the new year 2023 as K-ent is reporting that she’s doing her first stage performance. It’s the stage adaptation of Shakespeare in Love which I’ve not heard about being adapted for the stage but seems quite apropos because, erm, Shakespeare and all heh. This will be Kim Yoo … Continue reading →
Man, it looks like oversharing and overshowing was the cause of the abrupt backlash on upcoming romance C-drama She and Her Perfect Husband. The drama starring Yang Mi and Xu Kai was scheduled to air last month before abruptly delaying the premiere a mere two days prior to release and now C-ent is reporting that the drama has gone back … Continue reading →
The just finished filming and highly anticipated Fox Spirit Matchmaker (涂山小红娘) with Yang Mi and Gong Jun is actually the first of three Fox Spirit Matchmaker dramas. That chapter is called the Yue Hong chapter (月红篇), and was supposed to go into production second behind the Zhu Ye chapter (竹业篇). But the Zhu Ye chapter with female lead Liu Shi … Continue reading →
I don’t think skipping the casting of Seo Ye Ji for the upcoming TVing drama Island has anything impact on the audience excitement as everyone keeps getting hyped up for the return of Kim Nam Gil in a big budget action thriller like this. His last drama Through the Darkness was so highly lauded by critics and appreciated by viewers … Continue reading →
Everyone says holiday creep happens earlier and earlier this year and now it’s the Best and Worst of Lists that seem to start way before the year has even wrapped. Joynews published a poll of critics today of the Worst K-dramas of 2022 and plenty of stinkers made the list so let’s check it out now and be thankful for … Continue reading →
Alrighty, a ton of currently filming C-dramas wrapped filming over the weekend so it’s time for goodies. The first is the fantasy supernatural drama The Demon Hunter’s Romance (Chinese title 無憂渡 which means Worry Free Ferry or to transport someone over the water without worry). It’s clearly referring to the afterlife where souls are ferried across the River of Forgetfulness … Continue reading →
This isn’t quite a notable award but it is an award lol and definitely confirms the popularity of C-drama Love Like the Galaxy overseas. This weekend the Chinese American TV Festival, an off shoot of the more established Chinese American Film Festival, handed out Golden Angel Awards in the major Chinese television show categories. Winning Best Web Drama was Love … Continue reading →
A big happy birthday to C-actress Yang Zi who is undoubtedly the most popular and famous former child actress turned into an adult career in China. I’ve seen so many talented child actors and actresses in C-ent but most don’t actually transition well into adulthood much less get to the top of the crop. Yang Zi debuted in 1999 when … Continue reading →
