Some weeks feel longer than others and same goes for the wait for upcoming K-dramas. MBC‘s next Wed-Thurs drama I am Not a Robot has been incubation for much longer than usual, four extra weeks to be precise after Hospital Ship ended but the network was still mired in a labor strike. Sadly today doesn’t end the drought as viewers … Continue reading →
Magazine fashion pictorials are almost always taking a famous person and just posing them with the occasional location shoot throwing in famous backdrops. Bazaar China just dropped a jaw-dropping photoshoot with C-actress Zhang Tian Ai that counts are the exception to the norm, delivering a uniquely styled shoot transforming her into a modern take on the Tang Dynasty beauty. Zhang … Continue reading →
A sincere congrats to KBS Mon-Tues legal drama Witch’s Court, which wrapped up this Tuesday with the highest ratings yet for the show at 14.3% AGB nationwide. This was one drama that flew under the hype radar prior to its premiere but ended up the final victor in the end when it counts. Once I cleanse myself off the excess … Continue reading →
Out of the detritus of the failed K-drama remake of Chinese romance time-travel novel Bu Bu Jing Xin (Startling with Each Step) comes friendships and even lasting memories of performances that worked despite the failure of the greater construct. Two of the brotherly leads of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo recently showed their closeness in real life when 4th Prince Lee … Continue reading →
Two new Mon-Tues dramas arrived to newly equal lackluster welcome, even I can’t muster up much energy when I see all three Mon-Tues dramas in a row and it feels so similar in genre. KBS is wrapping up Witch’s Court which remains in the lead and this Monday’s episode took in 11.9% AGB nationwide ratings. MBC‘s swindler in a cop’s … Continue reading →
For those wondering what drama talented young actress Kim So Hyun would pick up next, KBS is looking to rope her in for upcoming Mon-Tues drama Radio Romance. It’s slated for after Jugglers so won’t premiere until January 2018 but the premise is cute enough to warrant an optimistic hope that it’s a legit rom-com. Idol-actor Yoon Doo Joon was … Continue reading →
This sounds like an intriguing premise for a fantasy K-drama, and on that genre front cable network tvN also has a solid track record. The network is prepping for a K-drama in early 2018 called About Time with an offer out to Lee Sung Kyung to be the female lead. Her character is named Michaella Choi and is a backstage … Continue reading →
When I heard of this remake it was the rare instances where I think it’s a good idea. Korean has bought the rights to hit 2007 Taiwanese time-travel high school romance movie Secret starring Jay Chou and Gwei Lun Mei. The remake will hit the theaters in 2018 with the setting changed from high school to college. The movie not … Continue reading →
It’s drama premiere week for MBC, languishing in last place and besieged by a labor strike to out a corrupt network president. On Monday new soul-swap police drama Two Cops arrives, followed on Wed-Thurs by rom-com I am Not a Robot. I’m more excited for the latter due to the subject matter and cast but am hopeful the former is … Continue reading →
It’s too late but if I could I would ask Kim Rae Won to run far far away from this K-drama, and take Seo Ji Hye with him. Alas the dawn of KBS fantasy melo-romance Black Knight (The Man Who Guards Me) is upon us in a little over a week and the production has released truly extraordinary drama posters. … Continue reading →
Taiwan’s biggest movie awards night was this weekend with the 54th annual Golden Horse Awards, feting the best of cinematic achievements in 2017. I haven’t watched a lick of Taiwan or Mainland awards worthy movies this year so I was watching solely for the fashion and it didn’t disappoint despite not having as many actresses walking the red carpet as … Continue reading →
Korean netizens have their own fixations on female star beauty with phrases like S-line, V-line, honey thighs, etc. that once understood is hard to unsee afterwards. C-netizens have their own preferences on what constitutes top starlet beauty and one such element is the “swan’s neck”, the long, lithe line of an actress lucky enough to be born with a very … Continue reading →
The just held more elite Blue Dragon Awards this weekend in Seoul celebrated the cinematic achievements of South Korean cinema in 2017 and also memorialized the life and acting works of deceased actor Kim Joo Hyuk. There were basically three colors on the red carpet with black, white, and red, and no I don’t think it was due to somberness … Continue reading →
