A slew of failed novel/manhwa adaptations in recent years hasn’t dimmed K-dramas preference for this genre, nor has it dimmed my interest whenever there is an adaptation based on the source material story. The timing has been set for the historical fantasy to modern fantasy setting transferred K-drama adaptation of Bride of the Water God, one of the most well … Continue reading →
I don’t know what the conceptual going on is happening in the first promo pictures for variety drama The Best Hit but anything with Yoon Si Yoon automatically takes on an adorable tint for me. The KBS drama will air in June in the Fri-Sat time slot, the first for the network since Producer back in 2015, and KBS will … Continue reading →
I’m so glad I cover dating and weddings in my blog otherwise I seriously can’t even remember who got married with so many nuptials in recent months. Actor Ahn Se Ha married his high school girlfriend sweetheart this past weekend which was covered by the media and attended by K-stars, but on the very quiet side former idol turned actress … Continue reading →
Dispatch is either bored or out of K-couples to out because it’s target this week is a star that has already confirmed his dating status. The tabloid caught disgraced idol-actor Yoochun on a date with his fiance, looking chill and casual as can be. I can totally image K-netizens annoyed as heck with his laissez-faire composure and smoking a cigarette … Continue reading →
Oh boy does this look majorly cute to start and way to depressing a likely ending. New drama stills and teaser have arrived for sageuk love triangle drama Seven Days Queen based on the real life story of Queen Dangyeon. I’m certain that queen’s life as a queen for 7 days isn’t nearly as swoony K-drama romantic in angst as … Continue reading →
I gotta give screenwriter Kim Eun Sook and actor Lee Dong Wook equal credit for creating the first and now vividly memorable impression of what a modern day Grim Reaper looks like in Korean culture. Goblin the drama may be centered around the immortal general turned goblin but the secondary character of the Grim Reaper was just as creatively rendered. … Continue reading →
First off a big congratulations for very recognizable Korean character actor Ahn Se Ha on his wedding this weekend! He joins the very jam-packed K-star wedding march of 2017 and even though he’s not a leading man but in every drama or movie I’ve seen where he played a part he’s always been spot on and an invaluable team player. … Continue reading →
This weekend is the arrival of new long weekend drama Bad Thief Good Thief, adding a thriller-esque element to the traditional weekend family drama fare. There’s a long childhood portion so those wanting to watch leads Ji Hyun Woo, Seohyun, Kim Ji Hoon, and Im Joo Eun will have to wait a few more weeks but hopefully the childhood portion … Continue reading →
Dang, Suzy is legit goals this week at the Guess denim event making all the recent trends work together masterfully. Suzy is the face of Guess jeans in South Korea and showed up to a CF event as a walking masterclass in how to look pretty and comfortable at the same time. She’s back to long hair, likely extensions, paired … Continue reading →
Screenwriters are human like any other and encounter their own limitations from time to time. That makes certain hitmakers all the more impressive, but also provides cushion for when a product doesn’t turn out a success. Melodrama queen Lee Kyung Hee‘s last high profile drama Uncontrollably Fond turned out to be less uncontrollably addictive for viewers and also lacking in … Continue reading →
In the history of fashion faux pas this is but a tiny blip, and really it’s more posting to catch up with a star who would have been a welcomed sight in Seoul this week to attend the 2017 Baeksang Arts Awards. Alas top K-actress Song Hye Kyo, who made a lovely appearance at the event the year prior for … Continue reading →
New and dramatically sideways drama posters for upcoming big budget period C-drama Princess Agents has me mildly hopeful I can find a new C-drama worth watching. Can’t say I love either leads Zhao Li Ying or Lin Geng Xin but I don’t dislike either as well and have heard lots of buzz around this particular project since it was announced. … Continue reading →
Now this is a strange deja when two stars mentioned for one project instead get confirmed for a completely different project. Hyun Bin’s name has been linked to sci-fi K-drama City of Lights and zombie sageuk movie Outbreak for a few months, and recently he confirmed the latter though I’m hoping he also signs on for the former since I … Continue reading →
