Filming is underway for early 2016 KBS drama Moorim School, with Moorim the Korean version for the Chinese phrase Wu Lin (æ¦æž—) which means the world of martial arts and chivalry used in the wuxia stories. Moorim School aims to be pre-produced and international in casting scope, with the students of this fictional Moorim High School coming from many countries … Continue reading →
I’m digging how not bad upcoming peroiod C-drama Braveness of the Ming looks. I know that’s hardly a resounding vote of confidence, but hear me out considering I see C-drama stills by the boatload and most make me want to rinse my eyes out. Some are too dour and dull, others too silly and bizarre, but Braveness of the Ming … Continue reading →
There’s been major movement this week on upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Oh My God, starting with a name change to Oh My Venus. It’s not a good drama title still, but slightly better than Oh My God which can range from a disaster drama all the way to slapstick comedy with no real clue that it’s supposed to convey. Venus … Continue reading →
Remember that drama Big Bang‘s T.O.P. and J-actress Ueno Juri? It has a title and an airdate right around the corner, and judging from the official drama and character posters will definitely be high on the visual prettiness. The Secret Message is a web drama co-produced by Japanese Amuse and Korean CJ E&M, with a solid appeal to both the Korean and … Continue reading →
Please be good, Marry Me, or Not! I’ve been waiting for this drama for what feels like forever, but even more critical is how much is on the line for me. There hasn’t been a home rum TW-drama all year that’s owned my heart, even if When I See You Again and Love Cuisine are moderately watchable solely for male … Continue reading →
I’m sure the list of winners at Friday night’s Korean Drama Awards 2015 will certainly generate lots of buzz, mostly of the dismay and headshaking variety no doubt. This is one of those awards shows that are already low on the legitimacy totem pole, but having the Daesang go to Kim Soo Hyun in Producer for the second year in … Continue reading →
I was already looking forward to modern day coming-of-age C-drama Precious Youth based on the leads and synopsis, but seeing the recently released teaser confirmed that my optimism was well placed. Starring Liu Shi Shi and Zheng Kai, the drama chronicles the high school to adulthood lovers-to-friends-to-lovers saga of the two leads set against the backdrop of rapidly modernizing China from … Continue reading →
Who’s ready for another serving of Heirs? Based on the latest development news, it’s more likely than not that the whole crew will be reuniting for a shorter second go-around in Kim Eun Sook‘s version of rich kids and their love and inheritance woes. Production company Hwa & Dam Pictures, who produced the original Heirs, has inked a production contract … Continue reading →
Money was clearly no limitation for the lavish and star-studded wedding ceremony of top Chinese stars Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy. It was as luxurious and over-the-top as Jay Chou‘s nuptials to Hannah Quinlivan last year, minus only the English castle backdrop but plus dozens more celebrity guests since it wasn’t a destination wedding. The newlyweds actually got married officially a … Continue reading →
A good story has peaks and valleys, ebbs and flows that keep the intensity flowing through a long windy journey. If the lovers get their happy ending too early, then what’s the lure to keep readers following along when there is no compelling obstacles left to overcome. Despite all signs pointing to impending wedded normalcy for our intrepid leading lady … Continue reading →
For those thinking Dispatch went on vacation or suddenly grew a conscience in the recent quiet few months, clearly it was laying low to spring a big one on the public. This “exclusive dating reveal” is second only to the Lee Min Ho–Suzy shocker this year, probably as big as Park Shin Hye–Lee Jong Seok, but the spot this dating leading … Continue reading →
Well this is certainly surprising drama casting news, not that I’m going to look a gift cat in the mouth. My baby boy Yoo Seung Ho has finally taken the jump with a drama project after nearly a year since his military service discharge. I can’t believe it’s been that long already, not that he’s wasted any time what with … Continue reading →
At this point, the list of Korean actors popular in China is so consistent in the last two years, I’m actually waiting for one of the stalwarts to do something stupid and drop off the chart, or for another crazy breakout moment when a contender edges off a longtime fave. During the summer months of 2015, the Korean and Chinese … Continue reading →
