I don’t follow K-pop unless one of the idols shows up in a drama that I’m watching, and the same goes for TW-pop which usually pops on my radar when the songs are used for drama OSTs. The closest thing Taiwan has to a fascimile of a Korean girl pop group is Dream Girls with Tia Li, Song Mi Jin, … Continue reading →
I haven’t been paying much attention to the upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Healer mainly because none of the three leads interest me particularly. Starring Yoo Ji Tae, Ji Chang Wook, and Park Min Young, this drama was announced and cast pretty early so there was also the odd sensation that it should have aired by now. Healer will premiere in a few weeks once … Continue reading →
Recapping My Lovely Girl was an exercise in patience training. I even surprised myself with the fortitude to stick with this to the very end when all common sense and self-preservation told me that jumping ship would have been the smarter decision. As the final episodes arrived as lifeless as any drama to ever exist, I wondered if there was … Continue reading →
The final promotional push is done for Pinocchio so all that’s left is to wait 5 more days until Wednesday night arrives. The cast attended the press conference yesterday as the production revealed both the official drama posters and the always welcome long video preview. I found the posters sweet and fluffy like the cotton clouds leads Park Shin Hye … Continue reading →
Time just zoomed right by for Song Seung Heon‘s long stay in China to film the romantic melo C-movie The Third Love. Costarring C-actress Crystal Liu, a certifiable screen goddess that has yet to breakthrough on the acting front, Song Seung Heon might’ve lucked into working with his opposite gender C-counterpart in producing double the pretty onscreen. The movie is … Continue reading →
Boy was this episode of My Lovely Girl bad. It was baaaaad like an extended chorus of sheep bleating bad. The only redeeming bits, now that Dal Bong is in doggie Heaven, is seeing how wonderful and decent the second leads remain. I wonder why the screenwriter spent all that time redeeming Hae Yoon and giving her a consistent MO, not to … Continue reading →
The year is less than two months from ending and there is finally a prime time K-drama that premiered in 2014 with ratings numbers that aren’t either an embarrassment or resigned mediocrity. MBC‘s rich grandpa age-reversing Wed-Thurs drama Mr. Back (Mr. Baek) just became the highest first episode prime time drama premiere of the year. Episode 1 notched a 14.2% … Continue reading →
Going into today’s double episode airing of My Lovely Girl, I sullenly clicked play with reluctance to watch and feeling undecided about posting separate recaps for each episode or combining them as one. After watching both episodes, I decided separate recaps is better because I no longer had the urge to get it over with like doing a dull chore. At end … Continue reading →
It’s Wednesday so more Pinocchio goodies! It’s either that or more My Lovely Girl crud, which sadly I’ll be sharing later, but let’s enjoy some promising stuff first. Pinocchio premieres next week right on schedule and remains my most anticipated drama. I not only like leads Lee Jong Seok and Park Shin Hye, the story board also sounds quite up … Continue reading →
Raise your hand if you like the latest CF picture above from current hot property in Greater China that is Lee Min Ho? I do, I really do love it! It’s like FINALLY Lee Min Ho does a CF where he’s actually mesmerizing in a still. Almost everything coming from him lately is just dull as beans, and he gets … Continue reading →
This is a I Miss Lee Seung Gi post, in case anyone thinks there is a more substantive reason for me to be posting about him. No, he hasn’t been cast in a new upcoming K-drama despite so many highly anticipated 2015 works still waiting for a leading man. He’s always a possibility for any prime time drama lead nowadays, … Continue reading →
The first major promotional push has started for the upcoming sageuk movie The Tailors (Sanguiwon). Starring Han Seok Kyu, Go Soo, Yoo Yeon Seok, and Park Shin Hye, the production released four beautifully rendered colorful individual posters for the cast along with the first video trailer. Everything looks good but nothing takes that extra step and captivates my interest beyond … Continue reading →
It’s clear following My Lovely Girl from the very beginning that this screenwriter was interested in manufacturing a narrative platform around the world of Korean music entertainment and song producing. I can’t feel anything organic to the story that was either Se Na or Hyun Wook driven, as if she had an urge to share this really lovely tale of … Continue reading →
