Maybe it’s the fall weather and the recent seismic shift in Asian drama viewing options but I’m in a nostalgic mood and one of the classic eras that passed naturally was the Taiwan idol dramas of the 2000s. Starting from Meteor Garden which was remade by a new cast this year in 2018 who may have just been born when the original came out in 2001, the decade or so following MG were the heyday of Taiwan idol dramas featuring young charismatic male leads creating swoon worthy drama crushes onscreen. Sure the hairstyles and fashion choices are outdated and rather lulzworthy to revisit but the raw charm of so many of those leading men remain undeniable and evident onscreen. Follow the photo journey to see the now early 40s and mid-30s actors back in their prime from Mike He, Jimmy Lin, pre-Mainland drama Wallace Huo, all four F4 Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Zhu, and Vanness Wu, classic Joe Cheng, intense Ethan Ruan, total prince and maybe a frog Ming Dao, stiff robot Wu Zhun, foraying into acting Show Luo, cute and goofy Jiro Wang and Aaron Yan, these names are so ingrained in me and always brings a smile to my face to remember those happy innocent days of watching them onscreen. I have no idea why I’m even following along with Fabulous Boys, the Taiwanese remake of the Hong Sisters cracktastic K-drama You’re Beautiful. The original wasn’t a drama I loved wholeheartedly though I was crazy addicted when it initially aired, … Continue reading
I wasn’t expecting this until the Summer, but looks like GTV wants to bring out some familiar big guns to try and rescue its prolonged period of bad ratings for Sunday night. The Taiwanese drama adaptation of You’re Beautiful has … Continue reading
I’m used to the 2-episode a week format for K-dramas, and the even more painful 1-episode a week format for TW-dramas and J-doramas. But when it comes to C-dramas, I’ve been spoiled on the 5-episode a week format so much … Continue reading
I don’t know how Taiwan dramas move so fast when it comes to filming. The TW-version of You’re Beautiful started filming late last year and already a 3-minute teaser is out. Starring Jiro Wang and newbie Su Li Wen (who … Continue reading

I love love love Drama Go Go Go. I’m all caught up to episode 6 (with episodes 7-8 airing this weekend) and this drama remains the funniest, sweetest, most sane cracky rom-com I’ve seen since Sunny Happiness. The lead characters … Continue reading
Seriously, Taiwan? You had to get on this bandwagon as well? You couldn’t have just left what was pretty swell alone and had to stick your foot in the game? I heard this news in a roundabout way actually – … Continue reading
I’ll make a prediction now – Drama Go Go Go (姐姐立正向前走) either will become the best C-drama rom-com of 2012 or will have a flaming second half melt down. Either way, I’ve checked out the first four episodes of this … Continue reading
