This isn’t a case of the #MeToo movement but is instead an alleged crime that was reportedly in real life, but the entertainment world consequences are right up the same alley. C-actor Gao Yun Xiang, who is married to C-actress Dong Xuan in real life and they have a one year old daughter, was accused of sexual assault in Sydney … Continue reading →
C-actress Crystal Liu may have a prolific acting career in terms of movie projects but she hasn’t done a drama in over a decade and her television return will happen later this year with the high profile Records of the Southern Mist House. It’s adapted from a popular manhwa and pairs her up with equally popular C-actor Jing Bo Ran … Continue reading →
I’m so in! The first teaser is out for Meteor Garden 2018, the TW/C-drama latest adaptation of the perennially popular shoujo manga Hana Yori Dango (Boys Before Flowers), and it looks like the ideal summer guilty pleasure drama watch. The drama is being produced by the same producer who did the 2001 Taiwan hit that launched so many careers of … Continue reading →
I haven’t felt the urge to watch a period C-drama in recent months, it just feels like there are too many out there and with many repeat actors and actresses. The one I am looking forward to just released the first trailer and I’m even more stoked to watch Legend of Fuyao airing in late 2018. Starring Yang Mi and … Continue reading →
I’m thrilled that TW-actress Ariel Lin is making her first period drama in 5 years after Prince of Lan Ling in 2013. I wrote about her reported casting for this drama earlier and now filming has started for Legend of Hua Bu Qi (literal title translation I am Hua Bu Qi). The earlier casting reports did not name a male … Continue reading →
I have a soft spot for Meteor Garden not because I love the Hana Yori Dango story all that much, it’s entertaining enough but the original Taiwan adaptation spawned the idol drama craze that gave us a decade of great TW-dramas. It’s also been the source material for many dramas to launch new faces thanks to the story line being … Continue reading →
The first character posters are out for the upcoming 2018 drama remake of Meteor Garden, now more officially a TW-drama and C-drama mashup thanks to the producer being Angie Tsai who produced the classic 2001 version but this time getting Chinese production backing and the main cast being predominately Chinese actors. All the previous Hana Yori Dango adaptations whether J-dorama, … Continue reading →
For anyone who loves fashion and photography this is going to be an eye-popping treat. Famous Chinese photographer Yin Chao teamed up with Bazaar China and the strong and gorgeous female cast of upcoming period C-drama Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace for an epic photoshoot. The drama is the production team spiritual successor to the mega-hit Legend of Zhen … Continue reading →
I have a toothache watching this but I still want moar, lol that is the power of combining Mark Chao and Yang Mi in any setting nowadays. The very popular (one their own) leads of the C-drama version of Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossom (Eternal Love) were paired back up this month by global retailer H&M to … Continue reading →
I actually think it’s a good time to do another adaption of the popular shoujo manga Hana Yori Dango (Boys Before Flowers), but I wonder if the upcoming Meteor Garden 2018 will go to the source material in adapting or remake the first time Taiwan dramas made the story into Meteor Garden in 2000. It makes a difference as remaking a … Continue reading →
C-dramas have recycled the same male leads and female leads for the last five years it’s come to a point where the top 5 actresses have worked with the all top 5 actors and it’s back to the drawing board. That means costars are even getting repeated, and at event functions fans have fun watching OTPs reunited for events. I … Continue reading →
As typical of any drama adaptation of Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango (Boys Before Flowers), all the attention is on the four male actors cast as the leading quarter F4. The upcoming Taiwan drama Meteor Garden 2018 helmed by the same producer who did the hit adaptation in 2001 has managed to cast four newbie actors with incredible height and … Continue reading →
Great news for Ariel Lin drama fans, especially those of her period dramas. Word on the 2018 drama circuit is that she’s inked to headline the time-travel period C-drama This Girl Hua Bu Qi (小女花不弃) based on the same name C-novel. Now that Ariel is lined up this will clearly be my next fluffy read, I trust she’s got a … Continue reading →
