The filming for the drama adaptation of Secrets Hidden in Time continues to chug along, and I continue to be fascinated by it. I don’t think I’ve ever shipped two leads this hard before the drama even began, but here I am drooling over every new still of Janine Chang and Wallace Chung. This is bizarre, since I’m not a … Continue reading →
I think my motto now should be “ask and you shall receive”, or maybe “have faith”. I’m a huge ArGe shipper, and in the midst of promotions for the upcoming Tangren fantasy RPG wuxia drama Xuan Yuan Jian, the cast was on the variety show Happy Camp and a big bombshell was dropped that just made my year. Since Tang … Continue reading →
Ethan Ruan is three months into his year long mandatory service duty and he’s finished up the one month new soldier orientation training and switched into his post. Because he’s flat footed, he won’t be doing active duty and is instead serving in the Ministry of Education office in Taipei. He’s working on public education campaigns and even uses his … Continue reading →
SETTV really is striking while the iron is hot, and right now its daily dramas have been kicking ass left and right. Inborn Pair with Chris Wang and Annie Chen started the trend, and even Vanness Wu‘s Ti Amo Chocolate is continuing the trend. The network has decided to launch a 9 pm daily drama (the others all air at … Continue reading →
Bunnies! The C-actors and actresses are seriously hooking up left and right like bunnies in Spring. No, no little bunnies have been produced yet or any shot gun weddings, but merely that every few weeks comes the breaking news of some big star admitting to dating another big star. Really? Why can’t K-actors and actresses emulate this and come clean, … Continue reading →
The good things about Yu Zheng‘s upcoming adaptation of The Swordsman (based on Louis Cha‘s novel Smiling Proud Wanderer) I can count on one finger – Wallace Huo as Linghu Chong. Bucking my initial reservations, in the official stills he’s gorgeously hot, angsty, and makes me see him for the first time as a non-bland leading man. The bad things….I … Continue reading →
Please be good, Alice in Wonder City, please be good. It’s been a veritable unending desert of no good dramas from Taiwan in the last few months. And no, I don’t think its any oxymoron, I sincerely believe there are entertaining and worthwhile TW-dramas out there. Fondant Garden I liked initially because it was cute and had potential, but has … Continue reading →
After filming for a month and a half on the upcoming TW/C drama Turn Around Fall in Love (formerly called Return to the Past), a steady stream of BTS stills have trickled out showing leads Choi Si Won, Yuan Hong, Wang Luo Dan, and Jessie Chiang looking fantastic in character. This is not a time-traveling drama, per se, but Wang Luo Dan’s … Continue reading →
So I knew about Liu Shi Shi and Ming Dao filming Happiness of an Angel late last year, a modern C-drama where he plays a doctor and she’s a single mom with a young daughter. They filmed the drama on Hainan Island, which is very picturesque, so I saw lots of stills with beach scenes and a pretty looking bed … Continue reading →
The miracle of casting really echoes how dramas are a visual medium and how the actors look does affect how I react to it. While I love Tong Hua‘s Da Mo Yao the novel and loathe her Secrets Hidden in Time, when it comes to the drama-adaptations of both, I’ve flip-flopped my interest because I dislike the casting of the former while … Continue reading →
FINALLY! After laying low for a few months racing cars, endorsing products, and maybe dating Tang Yan, word all over the TW-entertainment industry is that Roy Qiu is coming back with a TW-drama this Summer. Woo hoo! Of course its an SETTV drama, despite him having fulfilled his three project commitment to them (Woody Sambo, Easy Fortune Happy Life, and … Continue reading →
At this point, the Korean actors exodus over to making dramas in other parts of Asia should be considered a biblical flood. There are so many and all over the place I can barely keep track. Just as Yoon Si Yoon landed in China this week to start filming his Happy Noodle drama with Li Fei Er, I find out … Continue reading →
OMG to the nth degree! I must’ve been so blinded by the Aaron Yan prettiness (who can blame me, the boy is ridiculously gorgeous) not to notice the actual substance behind his upcoming TW-drama Alice in Wonder City. Once I found out who the scriptwriter was, I went from mildly curious to 120 mph I-want-this-drama-NOW. Alice is written by the … Continue reading →
