Thousand Day Promise with Kim Rae Won and Su Ae is exactly like advertised. When the lead actress has gigantic tear-filled eyes within three minutes of the drama starting, you know the melodrama touted as a potential weepfest is going to deliver exactly that. To say that TDP and I are not mixing well is an understatement. Watching episode 1 … Continue reading →
Boku to Star no 99 Nichi is going to have a tough uphill climb if we take the ratings for episode 1 of Nankyoku Tairiku as any indication. KimuTaku’s dogs and Antarctica period feel-good drama premiered with a 22.1% Kanto ratings, which is kickass but for the fact that all KimuTakus doramas have debuted higher. It’s hard to top oneself … Continue reading →
Wow, Sunday night in Taiwan is ON FIRE. This week’s episodes of Office Girls and In Time With You both are raking in the viewers. OG’s ratings broke 5 for the first time (going from 4.68 to 5.21), which is a huge feat since the only three idol dramas to break 5 in any episode this year have been The … Continue reading →
I was wondering why there were so many people reading my Man of Honor recaps, but then so few people wanting to chat about it. And then I realized it’s not readily available in subbed episodes. That’s such a bummer for me, because I want to talk about it! As I sit on the first two episodes for a few … Continue reading →
Flower Boy Ramyun Shop premieres in two weeks on cable channel tvN, starring Jung Il Woo, Lee Chung Ah, Lee Ki Woo, and Kim Ye Won. I’m looking forward to it, not really for the cast but more for how interesting and different the tvN dramas have been. While both Manny and I Need Romance faltered in the last episodes, … Continue reading →
This coming week sees the premiere in China of Rainbow Sweetheart, the C-remake of My Girl from the producers of Hi My Sweetheart and Meteor Garden, starring Jimmy Lin and Cherrie Ying. During the promotional circuit this week, Jimmy has definitively announced that this is his last drama, and will henceforth only do movies if the right script come along. … Continue reading →
Looks like we have another bromance on our hands. Last week Lee Dong Wook and Lee Jin Wook outed themselves as traveling to Hong Kong together via postings on their Me2day accounts. I love how K-ent has the Kim Wons (Jae and Rae) and now the Lee Wooks (Dong and Jin). While these pictures are taken by their friends and … Continue reading →
October’s Easy Magazine, one of China’s glossiest entertainment magazines, features the cast of Bu Bu Jing Xin with in depth interviews and photoshoots. I’m traveling this weekend so no scene recap for my BBJX fellow addicts, but these pictures ought to be a sight for sore eyes. Nicky Wu lands on the cover while the rest of the equally gorgeous … Continue reading →
I love Ha Ji Won in any of her very distinctive looks, but at this point I need her to grow her hair out. I miss her long locks of the What Happened in Bali days, plus I really want to put Gil Ra Im behind me and it’s hard to do that when she still channels Ra Im in … Continue reading →
Next Monday sees the premiere of Thousand Day Promise on SBS, starring Su Ae, Kim Rae Won, Lee Sang Woo, and Jung Yumi. My interest in this drama has been on a bell curve, ramping up as the cast was finalized with actors I love, and then gradually decreasing with each new trailer that made it appear this drama might … Continue reading →
I sound like a broken record on this, but I can’t help it. Office Girls is so fun to watch. I confess it’s the first of the three Sunday night Taiwan dramas I watch, even if I enjoy In Time With You and Ring Ring Bell immensely as well. The three dramas are so different that I treat OG as … Continue reading →
Who second lead shipped in Brilliant Legacy/Shining Inheritance? That would be me, and what appears to be the vast majority of the drama viewing populace. Setting aside Lee Seung Gi’s hairstyle which ought to be banned, second male lead Bae Soo Bin’s Park Jun Se oppa was so darn oppariffic (new word I just coined) that all of us wanted … Continue reading →
The holiday movie season in Asia is on a different schedule than the US. Naturally. Big-budget movies come out in early October to hit the National holiday in China, and then around late January and early February for the Lunar New Year. As the year winds down, most of the blockbuster C-movies have already been released, with a few biding … Continue reading →
